RE: ECU football 2015
I think ECU replaces too much on offense to be a real factor.

To be honest as well, UCF replaces too much on defense to be a factor if we don't find our footing on offense.

We lose Terrance Plummer (MLB), Troy Gray (OLB), Clayton Geathers, Jordan Ozerites, Brandon Alexander (All DB's), and a scattering of DLinemen.

I think the east runs through Cincinnati first, and Temple second if they retain as many people as I think they do.

We need to post the predicted lineup for each team in this thread. That seems like a good idea or maybe one thread called AAC 2015

If Benkert is as good as advertised or someone else is better, ECU will be just fine next year. There is a lot of talent returning.

There's a lot of Offseason to be had. Let's do it by position, starting with both lines, ending in QB's. We can even have a poll at the end of the week to see who we think has the best combination of players at that position group.

That sounds good. Whenever you want to start it up. It should be fun for UCF and Memphis fans trying to guess their defenses.

RE: ECU football 2015
We lose a couple really good players (depending who on this board you ask) from this years team but I think after ECU's fast start this year people forgot how much we lost from last year. It's not like this was a season where the stars aligned and we had all 5th year seniors. From a 10-3 2013 season we lost:

Offense: 6 Starters
Our starting RB who had his second consecutive 1,000+ yard rushing season and had over 400 receiving yards and 14 total TDs. 2nd team All Conference

3 starting offensive linemen, one of which was 1st team All Conference and one who was 2nd team

2 starting receivers (and 3 of our top 5 statistically, all 3 were starters at some point) though we kept our top 2, one of whom is back again next year

Defense: 7 Starters (and 2 more who where starters on and off)
DE/NT Terrell Stanley (who was out all year with injury and will be back next year)
DE Lee Pegues - 2nd team All Conference
OLB Gabe Woullard
MLB Jeremy Grove (split starts with Brandon Williams)
MLB Kyle Tudor (split starts with Zeek Bigger)
OLB Derrell Johnson - 2nd team All Conference
CB Adonis Armstrong
FS Damon Magazu - 2nd team All Conference and 4 year starter
SS Chip Thompson

That's 13 out of 22 starters we lost coming into this season and we finished 8-5 and 5-3 in the AAC. From this years team we lose 6 starters on defense (NT, DE, 2 LB, CB, S). The safety was a 1 year starter and the CB was terrible, but all of our CBs seem to be terrible. On offense we lose 5 starters (C, 2 WR, QB, RB). RB and 1 WR were 1 year starters and C has split starts with another C on the roster in the past. As mentioned we get back a starter from 2013 on the d line who was out this season with injury.

It's nowhere near a total rebuild. In fact it's less of one than this year. I understand the QB situation and we will find out how that goes. ECU fans will tell you he's a good one but who knows until he plays some snaps at the FBS level. Other than that it's a little less turnover than last year. We'll see.

RE: ECU football 2015
Should be a very interesting QB battle this Spring. The Offense is designed to have a plug and play QB but it is difficult to measure the leadership quality aspect. Last time Riley and Ruff had to choose between Rio Johnson and Shane Carden they picked the wrong QB out of the gate going with Rio.
The loss of Justin will be big in clutch situations but we definitely have a stable of talented receivers. Our OL will be as solid as it has in years so that will help the new QB who wins the battle to start. The schedule next year is no cupcake so if we manage to win 8 games again that would be huge. I doubt we do much in the AAC other then present a very difficult game for any team that is contending for the AAC Championship. We will be good enough to beat any team on our schedule next year but could struggle just to become bowl eligible so it will be interesting to watch.

RE: ECU football 2015
Cincinnati nearly everyone on the two deep offense for 2015. We return Gunner Kiel, all of our receivers and will have three runningbacks back. The offensive line will have two departures, but we have two big JUCO signees who are expected to either start or play in a two deep rotation. The biggest question mark on offense will be the backup situation for Kiel. Muncie Legaux will be gone. Our #2 guy last year was actually Jerrod Evans but he got into some legal trouble that has not yet been resolved. Behind him we will have RS Freshman Hayden Moore (he looked quite nice in Spring Ball) and True Freshman QB Ross Trial.

UC is losing three key players on defense: DE Terrelle Hartsfield, LB Jeff Luc and LB Nick Temple. All three will be extremely difficult to replace. However, the rest of the cast is returning and there is talent waiting in the wings.

I do think next year's UC team will lne better than this year's group (who underperformed IMO).

But look how heavily we relied on that combo as the season progressed.

This conversation is why I love college football. You can speculate all you want, but you never know who steps up from year to year. It is all a guess. The moment it becomes too predictable is the moment it becomes boring.

Didn't they beat us with Gus Frerotte w/ the WR Penn? They were a very good combo.
