Congrats! Must've been a great week for the Golden Eagles! I haven't been watching USM as much this year as I should, how're they doing?

On a bit of a side note, I find it interesting that Old Dominion still doesn't have a C-USA player of the week. I would've thought that a 31 pt game vs #14 VCU would do it, but I suppose not.

The ladies team will probably finish in the middle of C-USA. The men may not win another game this season.

The season won't be pretty by a long shot, but barring more or extended injury problems, we'll compete with the lesser teams on the schedule and should pick up a couple of wins. We're going to take some thorough butt-kickings at the hands of the better teams for sure, but our own play seems to have bottomed out at Jackson State. Tech was a 7-point game with about 3 minutes left, and they're one of favorites to win the conference. We're bad, but we're not hopeless.

Against Tech, our guys shot 62% from the field and 53% from three point range for the game, and we lost by double digits at home. If I thought shots would continue to fall like that for the rest of the season, I would say that we were definitely gonna win some games.

The odds say that we will win a game or two, but right now, there is not another game on the schedule that I would pick us to win.

No, they're not going to make 60+% every night, but you can't even do it once unless you're getting off some good shots. A couple of weeks ago, they couldn't even do that.

It's gonna be a rough season, but the extent to which people are giving up on anything positive taking place despite the first week of January not even being over yet and considering the injuries & absences so far...well, it's a bit much.

How many C-USA games do you think we will win?

I think we had 10 turnovers in the first 10 mins....turnovers was the difference....do not expect that to change this year....

and to stud on the conf wins this year.....I'll give us 2-4

....not a good year for southern miss hoops....just the way she has/is played(ing) out....

I'll give Doc two more years to see what 'he' can do.....that's only fair....

disclaimer: assuming the ncaa fkbags don't destroy us before then....

I don't expect us to suddenly become good at protecting the ball, but I do think we can improve, and simply going from "horrendous" to "bad" would give us a chance in a lot of games. Our rebounding & shooting have gotten a lot better over the last few weeks, and that's been the difference between getting owned start to finish by Jackson State and actually outscoring Tech in the 2nd half. Do the same with the turnovers, and this could be a fair-to-middling team (it'll never be a good one because the hosses just aren't there).

The importance of this cannot be overstated. The end result of that investigation stands to make anything on the scoreboard look like Romper Room.

Heck, I don't doubt we've already seen some effects of that whole situation. At least 2 reasonable candidates turning down the job a month before the NCAA shows up on campus strikes me as a bit more than a coincidence. I also don't doubt that some of the player attrition/decommits were due to the party being broken up.

I would not want to be in Doc's shoes....it's a tall task...

We need the ncaa to respond asap so we know what we are really up against....it's hard enough to schedule and recruit in this area to begin with...

0-3 conference wins. We only have 6 players capable of providing meaningful minutes. The other bench players pretty much look like students who walked on to the team.

Well, the Golden Eagles got taken to the woodshed by one of the worst teams in C-USA last night. I thought last night may be one of the better chances to get a W in C-USA this year. However, I forgot that this team has been terrible on the road. Now, onto UTEP to take another beating.

Which games do you think we have the best chance of getting Ws? I do not know much about most of the CUSA teams this year, but I think our best chances will be at home against FAU, FIU, UTSA, and Marshall. Possibly MTS also. The only game I saw them play, they looked horrible also.

only 1 bench player (Carey, of course) had any points. Three others played and combined for zero points and 8 fouls.
