I feel ok about this. MISS State is getting a good coach and it's not on bad terms.

You feel OK about losing the best DC in the conference? And if a coach is leaving a school to take the same job at another place how can it not be on bad terms for the school he left?

I don't think any school is going to hold it against a coach for taking a job that can pay way more than they are able to pay.

A DC at a P5 school is going to make significantly more than a school like La Tech is going to be able to pay.

I think he was making 650K at Texas and 180K at Tech. He'll probably get about 4-500K at Miss St.

I'm not great with it but was pretty expected, I just hope he doesn't take our entire Defensive staff with him...

Wow would have though Tech was paying in the 250k range which is fairly close to what Miss St was paying their DC...300k

Western is really getting the short end of the stick we are paying Nick Holt 300k

Like GermDawg said, I'm worried about the staff makeup after Manny's departure. I'm hoping Oscar Giles hangs around but I imagine he'll head to Starkvegas with Diaz. Why is this crap always so close to signing day 03-banghead

WKY should ask for a return based on the performance of your D in your bowl game :)

That was what I mostly meant when I asked how can a fan be OK with this...

football recruiting is different than basketball. Most of the time a football recruit will have a strong relationship with the position coach and DC/OC. So it hurts more than if you lose a basketball asst coach where the main relationship is usually tied to the4 head man.

And if you lose any recruits because a DC takes another job most of the time it's going to be one of your best recruits..best on paper.

Not worried about losing a recruit or 2 from this. For every recruit we lose means more room for SEC and BIG graduated seniors come in and play. JK.

All I can say is thank you coach Diaz and if you ever need to come back Tech will welcome you back. Most fun D I ever watched and hopefully one of the D assistants was taking notes so the drop off wont be as bad. I hope the new DC preaches accountability like Diaz did. Our D scored or directly caused more than 200 points for us this season. Time for Holtz to pull off some magic trick and bring in buddy ryan.

No doubt Diaz did a great job this year as well as MT a few years ago. He got thrown under bus at UT.

He will be tough to replace, but you should still be solid on D if a lot coming back.

Uh, CUSA total defense:

1. Marshall
2. La Tech

Scoring defense:

1. Marshall
2. La Tech

With that cleared up, Diaz is a very good DC.
