Believe me, after the season we had two years ago, no ODU fan thinks we will run away with this league. Any team at the top of this league can win it. WKU is going to be a good barometer of how far we have come and have to go on Saturday. We know your school has a good team, that has already given one of the better defenses in the country problems (UL). I'm hopeful, not extremely confident, we can leave Diddle with a win. But first, Marshall.

Haha, not one post in this thread claims that ODU will win the conference championship. The only post that predicts a CUSA championship is fron a UTEP fan doing so on pg. 6. The only talk of ODU winning a championship has been going on in your head.

Nothing in thread annoys me at all. I'd be pumped if WKU was ranked. Of course, it may take me awhile to be annoyed after Georgia State fans posts last year on the belt board.

As usual I left something out of my post...

I meant to say this thread and others. But really it's more of the 'tone' of the talk and to be honest could just be a couple people. I really didn't pay that close of attention to who said what.

Getting ranked is important and especially coming from where ODU was 2 years ago. But like I said it was just the tone of the overall post or at least the few that stuck out to me that made me think of UNT fans 3 years ago.

At this point ODU has played the best basketball so I get the excitement of doing that. But it's a long season and couple losses could destroy confidence and sometimes that's the difference in going through a conference with 1 or two losses or 4 to 6.

I really don't know what Western is going to do...till the 2nd half of the Ole Miss game we were playing some awful basketball. But from the start of the 2nd half on Western's played some of it's best ball over the last 6 years...

the only thing that changed was CONFIDENCE and hitting shots but then again most of that is confidence. But like I said some of the post just stood out to me as this is a two team conference race.

CUSA is definitely not a two ream race. Although some teams have not performed up to expectations yet, as you said, it is a long season. There are a lot of talented players in this conference, and I would venture to say that based on ratings of it's players out of HS alone the ODU team would be down in the rankings a bit. Teams like UTEP, Charlotte, LT, and your Hilltoppers have talent that could gel at any point, other teams could come from out-of-nowhere as well. That is why I love college basketball, because it favors the teams which play as a unit over the ones who are just a bunch of talented guys who happen to be wearing the same uni. Of course you get the Kentucks and Dukes, etc. who sometimes have both superior talent and chemistry, and they can be had too, as was almost the case with ole Miss and Kentucky last night.

For me it's not about predicting championships, we can't do that at this stage because the top half of this conference can easily beat each other. What a lot of this and the other CUSA Basketball thread are about is being in the discussion for an at large. Hopefully year after year this conference can get someone in the discussion for an at large bid.
