RE: Scarbo: UAB Football - Private recordings reveal...
Look at what Brian is saying and doing here too. These are not the words of someone who is sticking a knife in the program's back.
Yeah, yeah, I know, he should have spoken up. I'm just saying that it is obvious that he knew how crucial the hire was, that he wanted (and got!) the best man for the job, and that there is no sense here that he's doing anything but the best job he could. What happened to the football program may have happened on his watch but he's not colluding in it.

I want Wright Thompson from ESPN, who did the Ghosts of Ole Miss 30 for 30 on this. In the meantime I'd like to say hi to the BOT/Watts lackeys that are reading this board. Please pay attention to what Mr. Johnny Cash has to say:

He did a very wonderful and courageous job on that one, I'd buy him being in on that if it were to actually happen. Nice song, too. Fits this & them like a boot. A boot that is going to find its' mark in the very near future...#BlazerGate

Thompson comes to my mind on a story like this as he's a Southerner himself and I feel he would be intrigued about a story on how backroom, corrupt politics are still going on to this day in the southern states.

Folks:
Often I have entertained the thought that the current plight of UAB football could honestly be the icing on the cake of a MUCH bigger story- one that descends deeply into the seedy and sinister side of Old South politics, especially in Alabama.
We Blazer fans have had our share of black helicopter stories and tin-foil hats, but we've also had good reason. Quite honestly, if some young (or even well-established) reporter would give this story the attention it deserves, we could see some 90 lb, bottom-dwelling catfish get pulled up into the light, nailed to a tree and SKINNED!
RE: Scarbo: UAB Football - Private recordings reveal...
Brian got nailed by someone after the decision. He had his head on right during these discussions. He was logical and expressed the threats and opportunities. If we could find out who and what on that question, we would have the full story, I believe.

They wanted Mackin to take the fall for this & he took the side door instead.
Watts then had to take the fall.

I believe this 100%.
And Carr was not completely in the loop with what Watts wanted to do at this point. If he was, he will never recruit another head coach in the country!
So, Carr must not have been given the marching instructions to design report to kill UAB Football at this point. He only knew that the numbers were very close. Like others have said dropping football wouldn't have made any difference since it was close to break even. Other programs should have been on the chopping block first if they were truly trying to free up money to be reassigned to other programs.

Yep. but Mackin gave up before the rest of us, and he took his 30 pieces of silver as he left.
For those defending Mackin, if he didn't take hush money, why is he silent?
I believe he loves UAB and UAB football, but he quit on it against these bullies and he took a pay out (which should be illegal).

His and/or family life threatened? Greyhound killers are a tough bunch.
