RE: Cowboys vs Packers
Stats wise Green Bay is hard up to stop the run.
If we can hold on to the ball...and run that puppy...we got this.

RE: Cowboys vs Packers
It will certainly be cold in Green Bay, but that can be overcome. This can pretty much be said about any game, but if Dallas can control the line of scrimmage and pound the running game, it will wear down their defense and have the added benefit of keeping Rodgers off the field. If we establish the running game early, the Packers will have to put 8 men in the box, leaving the field more open for Bryant, Williams, Witten and Beasley to have a lot of footballs thrown their way. Being 8-0 on the road, including a W at Seattle that wasn't as close as the final score indicated, should give the Boys a lot of confidence going into this weekend.

Dallas' best offense is it's running game. Keep A-Rod off the field as much as possible. GB run D is weak...feed Murray early & often.

Actually Green Bay IS a favorable matchup for Dallas.

I suppose it's a pessimist / optimist thing.

Maybe the game clinching strip sack will be the thing that turns Demarcus into a 2015 playoff show pony. I'd love to see him hounding Rodgers like that a few times Sunday.

It will be a collective effort to rush the passer, as it has been all season. I do think Lawrence is here to stay though and that was his coming out party, but he's not a dominate pass rusher yet. He's got to get stronger this offseason and keep developing his footwork and moves. I think he is going to be a 10+ sack guy in the near future. Could be next year, but it may take a couple. It often does with pass rushers. It had to be tough breaking his ankle like that in the preseason as a rookie. But he still showed he has NFL caliber talent to penetrate the line of scrimmage.

Anthony Spencer is beginning to get pressure consistently as well. Mid November I was convinced he was out of here after this year and his career might be over. Now he's looking like someone we really need to bring back. He has looked like a very solid edge rusher again from December on. Its basically taken him almost 2 years to recover from micro fracture surgery.

Green bay has struggled against the run this year. Its not just a stats thing either, they are a bit suspect in the middle for a couple of different reasons. Its been such a struggle, they recently moved Clay Matthews to MLB. He has played solid football and improved the situation a bit, but they have not faced any offenses on the cowboys level. Unlike Detroit, the Packers will be forced to keep an extra defender in the box, which will leave a lot of one on one situations on the outside for Terence Williams and Dez. The Lions were so talented on defense, they were one of the few teams in the NFL who could face the Cowboys offense strait up and not stack the box. GB will stack the box. Period.

That's why some say this matchup may favor us in some areas. Our style of play could nullify the temps and expose GB's weaknesses.

GB's Rush defense is #5 since the beginning of December.
GB has a pretty decent secondary, and will make it tough on Romo and Co.
Matthews, Hawk, and Peppers are going to be going after Romo hard.

GO PACK!

that ranking is extremely deceiving since they gave up 16 rushing yards to a really bad Tampa Bay offense.
They gave up over 113 yards to Buffalo, 111 to Detroit, 91 to Atlanta and 16 to Tampa.

Meanwhile Dallas gave up 35 to Chicago, 75 to Philadelphia, 1 yard to Indianapolis, and 104 to Washington in December.

Green Bay's passing defense was buoyed by playing Tampa, Atlanta, and and Buffalo. None of the qb's on those teams are as decent as Tony Romo with a good offensive line.

Green Bay gave up 119.9 rushing yards a game this season...Dallas 103.1
Green Bay gave up 226.4 passing yards this season...Dallas 251.9
I'm calling the defenses a wash....so it will depend on whether or not Dallas can run the ball and control the clock.
If they can avoid turnovers...it could be a real interesting game.

Green Bay will have to pass the ball maybe to set up the run.

Ice Bowl 1967

Doesn't look to be quite as cold, 17 degrees instead of -15 but wouldn't that be fun. It was so cold that the officials couldn't even use their whistles and a fan died of exposure.

Looks like the line is Packers - 6 1/2? The Cowboys will have to be at the top of their game. I see the Seahawks back in the Bowl. 04-cheers

Green Bay is ranked 23rd against the run. Dallas like 26 against the pass.
Dallas has to be able to run the ball and eat clock to win this one.
They'll worry about Seattle later.

Misleading numbers. Packers run defense has been a lot better after Matthews was moved to the inside.

As i stated earlier moving Matthews to the inside has helped the run defense and has protected him also. Has cut down on the number of hits he takes and he has been able to stay on the field because of it. Dallas also has the #26 pass defense. Rodgers should have a field day if his leg has healed. Especially if the officials feel as if they are being watched after the head of officials stated publicly they missed an important defensive holding call against Dallas call in the playoff game.

Misleading posts.

The packers rush defense hasn't really shown much improvement at all. They simply played 6 of the worst rushing teams in the league to close the season.

Packers final 6 games and opp rushing ranks

Vikings (14th)
Patriots (18th)
Falcons (24th)
Bills (25th)
Bucs (29th)
Lions (28th)

Those are some HORRIBLE rushing attacks and if you take out the Tampa game, they averaged giving up over 100+ yards a game against these teams.

Not much of an "improvement".

takes longer than 1 or 2 weeks to heal from a calf injury. Same problem for Dallas tho...Romo isn't 100% either After a couple of hits from Detroit, some of his passes were high or wobbly.
Whoevers qb stays healthiest, commits the least # of turnovers, and RUNS the ball best will win the game.

He was under duress in the Detroit game, but I thought he threw the ball really poorly anyway. He typically has a couple of games every year were he gets really inaccurate.....sometimes due to injury, sometimes just from playing a chitty game.

The good news is Romo has rarely had 2 shaky games in a row. He typically comes out EXTRA sharp after having an erratic game like that.

It seems my entire Company is Cowboy fans.

We have a bet going on now.

If the Packers win they have to wear GB gear the Friday after. If Dallas wins I have to wear Dallas gear.

Can't wait for this one.

Unless you enjoy betting just for the fun or sport of it, this is not a good game to gamble on. It could literally go either way. It could come down to a turnover or one or two plays in the first quarter or 4th quarter.

Dallas, Green Bay, Seattle, Denver and New England are all about dead even imo. Baltimore is very dangerous this time of year. No one team has broken out of that pack, though one will take the Lombardi trophy next month. Everyone seems to be peaking at the right time. Everyone is talented and very well coached, and each team has some flaws.

Matchups, very small details, and a touch of good old fashion luck are all that will separate these teams from here on.
