Jack Larson, Jimmy Olsen in the 1950s Superman series, has died at age 87. No points.

One of my favorite red heads on the screen, Maureen O'Hara died. She was the doubting mother of Natalie Wood in the original "Miracle on 34th Street" and later played several roles opposite John Wayne as the always fiesty love interest in "McClintock " and others.

Guy V. Lewis has passed away at age 93. Longtime coach of the University of Houston men's basketball team, Lewis is best remembered for putting together the "Game of the Century" in the Astrodome, featuring UCLA with Lew Alcindor and UH with Elvin Hayes. Houston won in front of more than 50,000 fans, ending the Bruin's 47 game win streak. It was the largest crowd ever for a basketball game at that time. He coached five teams to the Final Four, including three straight with the "Phi Slamma Jamma" teams of the early Eighties. He had twenty-seven consecutive winning seasons. He coached Elvin Hayes, Akeem Olajuan, and Clyde Drexler, who all made the NBA Top Fifty Players list. The only other coach with three players on this list is Dean Smith. He was one of the first Southern coaches to recruit black players, recruiting both Elvin Hayes and Don Chaney.

His long overdue induction into the James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame came in 2013. When inducted, he mentioned in his speech that he wasn't angry that it took so long for him to be voted in "because he was used to winning in overtime."

RIP, Coach. Eat 'em up!
