RE: The Most Underrated Hoops League is
You are trying to change the arguement that college basketball shouldn't be defined by March alone- and that just will never happen. college basketball- is 100% defined by how you do in the postseason. Like last year- take the Big East and AAC. Big East had by far a better regular season. But a terrible postseason. AAC on the other hand had the national champion, and a 2nd sweet 16 team. Very few people think the Big East had a better year than the AAC last year.

I don't think for instance Big East vs Big 10 should be defined by comparing DePaul and Northwestern. What matters a whole hell of a lot more is Villanova, St Johns, Seton Hall vs Wisconsin, Maryland, Ohio St. And for those teams, we won't know the story until March.

I've come to that same exact conclusion about you.

You are probably also arguing that Alabama is better than Ohio State because a committee decided to give Alabama the Number 1 Ranking in the CFP. Just ignore the result on the field...

This just proves my point. You haven't been paying any attention today. 03-lmfao

The SEC was perceived as the "top" conference all season in college football. Most neutral parties today (homers not included) would disagree given the SEC post-season results.

RE: The Most Underrated Hoops League is
Big East is now the #1 rated conference by RPI. Villanova is probably the only Final Four contender but there are legitimately 7 NCAA teams (out of 10) right now.

If you can't figure the answer out there you don't deserve to understand, and I haven't the inclination to enlighten you further.

Or you know you've lost the argument and are now ducking out....

I agree with Bit. Anyone who thinks that 1 weekend in April can tell us who is the best team doesn't know a thing about sports. And determining the best 14 conference by 1 team's performance in April? You need to have your head examined.

Let's bear in mind what the "ratings" are, before saying who is "over-rated" and "under-rated" ... I'll go far enough down to include all 10 FBS conferences (which is a long way down) ...

Big East could be in a "most over-rated" thread, but doesn't seem to be any way to include them in a "most-under-rated" thread, given that it seems like their conference RPI rose from 2nd to 1st since the start of the thread.

Conference RPI (Div1 schools only) / Best Team
1. Big East / Nova
2. Big12 / KS
3. ACC / UVA
4. Big10 / Whiskey
5. SEC / KY
6. PAC12 / AZ
7. A10 / VCU
8. AAC / Temple
9. WCC / Zags
10. MVC / WichitaSt
11. MWC / CO St
12. MAC / Buffalo
13. BigWest / Long Beach St
14. Horizon / WI-GreenBay
15. -- "Independents" -- / NJIT (only independent)
16. Ivy / Harvard
17. Patriot / Lafayette
18. CUSA / ODU
19. CAA / NErn
20. MAAC / Iona
21. Sunbelt / GA St

Cool. We should completely ignore how a conference performs on the biggest stage against the best competition when it matters the most...

I'm sure you will, since I seriously doubt that UConn will be a part of it. It's been a rough season for y'all so far.

10 games under .500 overall in nonconference play. The BW must have done something right to jump up to 13, because last year we were in the 20s.

The tough scheduling of Long Beach State and UCSB, and the relative success of Cal Poli, giving two schools with RPI better than 100th and a third at 105th.

Though its not just the top three, since Sagarin has BigWest at 14th (which is effectively the same position since he ranks divisional conferences by division and so has MAC West at 10th and MAC East at 12th, where the MAC overall has 11th RPI), and that is a centrally-weighted average. He has the middle three at 133-164, while the bottom three are 246-298, so what the BigWest loses in Sagarin's ranking from the top three having less weight it makes up from having the bottom three have less weight.
