Drexel
Tough, opening week grind for all league teams with 4 games in 8 days for everyone.

Elon appears to have been overachieivng YTD with only one returning starter and losing a starter to injury, but think their easy win at Drexel was a little deceiving today. Drexel is down to 8 players dressing. Big man Rodney Williams out for a month with a stress fracture...Hopefully, a game Monday night in which we can take advantage of the player numbers and pace these guys for this first week stretch. JMU should be a little tired by the time they get to us on Saturday. Would be nice to get off to a 4-0 start, but bite my tongue, one game at a time.

Saw on another blog that Northeastern has three, back to back away game series with one day in between. We only have one similar series, so, will be interesting to see if we get any advantage out of that scheduling break.

RE: Drexel
I would be ecstatic if we could win tonight at Drexel and get to 2-0. Only then would I dare afford myself the luxury of thinking about how good 3-0 would feel!!

On a side note, this is one of the very best defensive teams that I have seen in my almost 40 years of following Tribe basketball. Our length on the perimeter and Sean's strength on the blocks will give us a chance in every game that we play. And while there is some obvious drop off offensively when guys 6-8 come into the game, there is very little drop-off defensively. These guys are a joy to watch on the defensive end of the court.

By the way, Terry Tarpey may be the most disruptive defensive player that I have even seen in a Tribe uniform.

Is there a video feed hidden somewhere? Tribeathletics.com usually has a link to the opposing team feed (if there is one), but I don't see one and I don't believe the game is on TV. I guess I'm used to always having some sort of picture for games these days.

Edit: Just saw there's a link to caa.tv if you go to the actual schedule page and not just the upcoming events box on the main page.

RE: Drexel
I'm sorry for Rodney Williams that he is hurt and wish him a recovery as soon as our game is over.

I agree with my classmate from '75 that this is one of the best defensive Tribe/Indian teams I have seen. That is a huge plus in my way of thinking. Some nights your shots fall, and some nights they don't, but you can always play defense.

I was at the UNC game (I don't get to many) and was very encouraged by the 2nd half. I believe we can use that half as a launching pad. Now our guys know they can play with anyone. All they need is a little more consistency.

My usual strategy is I go to the schedule page and there's a link if there's a stream.

I looked on Saturday or Sunday and there was no link.

I then look at the schedule page of the opponent's site, there was a link.

I'm not sure exactly what the strategy is for our page, when it gets posted, etc. Certainly would seem like there should be a way to get that info up for CAA games way ahead of time.

Also, if you go to the write-up about tonight's game on Tribeathletics.com, a link is provided.

RE: Drexel
Good thoughts and bad thoughts for tonight:

The good: This looks like the rare game where our key players have more rest than the opposition. Three Drexel Dragons logged more 35 or more minutes Saturday. No Tribe player played that much (albeit four were between 28 & 32). Not much of an advantage but I think more often than not this will be a disadvantage for us.

The bad: Three CAA teams that lost on the road Saturday play at home on Monday. This brings into play the "wounded animal" factor; each should play with extra fire tonight. Unfortunately Drexel is one of those teams.

Memo to tribe 75. Well said. I saw TT up close after a scrimmage. That kid is a man. Having him in your face , and in a bad mood, would be a real problem.

It's gonna be a busy week for us but if we come ready to play there is absolutely no reason we won't win. We're much better than Drexel.

Absolutely. There is not excuse for losing to a 2-10 Drexel team, with 8 players, who lost earlier at home to the Philadelphia University of the Sciences. I don't get the opening line at 5 points.

Take care of business, that is all. Go Tribe!

100% agree. Tribe should thoroughly dominate Drexel. In fact, we should have our bench on court the entire 4th Q with 30 points to give.
