Yes it is. But I don't agree that its OK to play ugly as long as you win. Ugly play can become a bad habit and then the team struggles to re-establish good habits.

I will counter with :It's ALWAYS OK to play ugly as long as you win whenever you play ugly, IF you ALWAYS play ugly.

It's a team with a lot of new faces on the court. Games will be up and down. If you expect more than that, you're fooling yourself.

He just makes crap up all the time. It's almost impossible for me to listen to him because of it.

I guess I didn't finish my thought. So if you play ugly you are not at the peak of your competitive efficiency. And it would seem logical to me that if that is the case you are much more likely to lose to the better teams. You can get away with ugly play against Miami at home but probably not against the league leaders on the road.

True. My comment was more mathematical than hoops reality although UNC used to win ugly all the time with the four corner and EMU won real ugly a lot last year. If you can get the opposition to look ugly, too, you're in business. We looked like Connecticut until they went to the zone. I think the zone caused our ugliness.

Your are probably right. We had some good penetration and easy shots early which resulted in something like 8 for 10 shooting. Had 24 points half way through the first half. Scored a total of 4 points in the next 10 minutes, and I think that included one field goal. That is ugly! And I didn't see an intimidating post defense so I can't understand why there were not at least a few good looks during a quarter of the game. Coach probably made a note to work on the zone offense.

I hope so. We'll be seeing a lot if we don't find some shooters and get some better ball movement.
