Mythical college conferences -- some fun from 1997
In this season of bowl game overload, I thought it might be fun to dust it off this email discussion from 17-18 years ago about mythical college conferences and bowls. We had fun coming up with the list below.
Note that Eckerd Drugs no longer exists as a brand name, The Polytechnic Institute is now part of NYU, and Parliament's own AlmadenMike is a proud Rose-Hulman parent (and if they don't play Harvey Mudd in anything, it seems like they should).
On a more personal note, of the 18 or so emails on that original discussion, I believe the only address that still works is mine. One of the 18 was a compuserve address; as I recall, CompuServe was one of the original general-public ISPs and charged by the hour (!) for access.

LOL. This is a closer match for me than you'd imagined, George ... as our daughter is a 2014 Harvey Mudd grad, while our son is a sophomore at Rose-Hulman.
Mudd is so small (~800 students/co-ed), that its sports teams include students from three of the five Claremont undergraduate colleges: Claremont-McKenna (~1,300/co-ed), Mudd and Scripps (990 women), known as CMS. (Pomona & Pitzer students make up the second Claremont D-III team.)
(CMS and Rose students could end up competing against each other in D-III tournaments. I woudn't be surprised if that's happened before.)
CMS has played Rice recently, however, in Ultimate Frisbee. And the Owls prevailed.

I will send this to my daughter, who I've been trying to break of incorrectly using literally (i.e. using it as a point of emphasis rather than clarification).
