RE: Georgia State program
See my post why I think our best potential fan base is not in LITTLE ROCK, but surrounding areas.

Maybe that is simply impossible in this day and age. Obviously, few UALR graduates leave the school with any sense of loyalty to the athletic program. Probably the same at GaSt and most other city, commuter type schools.
Somehow is an easy one to explain, and I know you won't believe it or agree, but you're not going to build any type of "real fans" if you keep on doing the same ole **** that you've been doing for the past twelve years with the same ole coach, and for the past twenty or so without winning anything worth hearing about. You've got to give the fans something worth watching for them to come out in the first place. Simple solution but as I said, you won't agree.. New coach to go along with a new AD. One thing about it, even if the new coach is a dud, the attendance can't get much worse.

You are probably right about that. Although the new coach at UCA has yet to win a game, and the second year coach at South Alabama hasn't one a DI game this season. If that happens here, maybe it could get worse, but not much.

Just don't hire one of those two coaches.

uca is a totally fresh build from the ground up.
usa, I have idea how you can mess that place up but the new guy has.
I don't feel like a new coach could do any worse than Steve and Steve doing pretty bad.

Well we could finish 7th or 8th instead of 4th or 5th.

Yes, we could do a lot worse. But, I agree we could do some better. Don't know any coach that could have us beat out GaSt with the talent they have this year. ULL always has more talent than us. Like Wimp used to say "All you need is a pulse to get in there". Maybe a new coach could out recruit ULL, despite the obstacles we face. We'll find out one day. The reality is, I think the 2 Texas schools will become a force in our league, with the talent base near their schools. If they keep their coach, GaSt may continue to get the retreads and overlooked talent in the Atlanta area. That should be enough to win the Belt most years. Our best player is one they let slip away.

RE: Georgia State program
He was a definite project at that time from a small school. Most good programs don't have to take chances on a kid because they can sign players who are more physically ready in most cases. James had great athletic ability, but his strength and skills were not at a big time level when he came out of high school. He has been a great addition to our program, but you can't sustain a successful program with projects. James just happened to be one that has worked out beautifully for us.

I don't see James as a "project". He had nice skills from day one, but obviously needed to gain some strength and bulk. We are never going to get a fully developed big man to come here. Will Neighbour was the closest we'll get, but unfortunately he had injury problems.

RE: Georgia State program
Maybe our definition of a project is different. I consider a kid a project if he's not ready to play when he arrives on campus. As far as his skills, I'll go back and check, but I seem to recall he wasn't a very good free throw shooter, and turned the ball over a lot. But my memory could be suspect, but I'll check it out and report back my findings.

RE: Georgia State program
Somehow I thought we were told it was a small town school. Like in one of the middle to lower classifications. I stand corrected if that's the case. You should know since I think it was you who first told us about James.
