We were formerly in the inactive/graveyard section of the message boards so we are moving up. To be considered active I would imagine we have to continue our current progress and probably get the other schools in the Big South active. Or at the very least the general Big South boards.
I contacted the Board admin and asked him how we could get a LU board going. He replied that he would move us to Proving status from Inactive and to start using the existing board. I then sent PM to LU posters when I noticed them posting on other boards inviting them to start using this board. We just need to keep the activity going and develop more posters. The feature I really like about this board is that it is open to everyone from different leagues and teams.
An example, when LU played JMU a few weeks ago, I was posting on their board, and being chided a lot. They were mostly passionate fans pulling for their team. My last post was just before the game, on JMU's board, was "JMU fans, prepare your crow". That was a very popular thread and it was about 20 to 1 replies (JMU 20 posters to every 1 LU poster) mostly slamming LU. You know the drill. First time to playoffs, a perpetual Cinderella, no playoff wins, etc...
When the game was over, most JMU fans showed a lot of class and most complimented LU. They really enjoyed 'talking smack" and most were gracious and did "eat crow" when LU won and posted their well wishes. Now when JMU comes to Lynchburg Sept 26 next year, there will be a lot of very popular posts.
It's this type of interaction, and the information shared by posters from across the country, that I find very valuable. Great discussions on realignment, conference expansion, and good points on why some teams are high on the list for conference upgrade and others low. Sure one has to sift through the responses but there is a value there.
I hope the Admin is monitoring the activity here. I'll again contact him after the new year and touch base and find out our status. I encourage you to continue your postings as regulars and invite other LU posters to join us. If ODU and JMU can have popular and successful boards then we can too. Soon others, some who are now monitoring us now, from other boards, will chime in with their thoughts and opinions.
Let's keep it rolling and thanks to everyone whose participated to date.
