7 invites would be a GREAT year for the AAC!
All of those teams COULD make the NCAA tournament, but not all of them WILL (IMO)
True, since they played each other there will be loses there. And of course, an additional problem is that we currently have four teams with 200 plus RPI -- with ECU pushing 300.
The problem with looking so early is that, while it is fun, too much is unknown.
For example, the B10 only has 3 teams under 61 RPI currently. That says that they may only be a 3 team league also, with several bubble teams. Some of those bubble teams will make, some won't. Is the B10 only a 3 or 4 team conference?
On the other hand, the Atlantic 10 has 6 teams that are either bubble or are in. That conference is no better then the AAC, depending on the year. Some years they will be better, some not.
In any case the AAC is probably a high mid-major conference that will send 3 or 4 most years.

Or another way to look at it is the Big 10 has *10 teams* with RPIs below 100.

Yes, lots of ways to look at it. Like more then half their conference would not sniff the tourney if selection was held today since those are all above 80 RPI. Or that 3 of the B10 have NCSS of over 200.
Point is that all conference have weaknesses at the bottom end of their respective conferences.
Again it's just too early to be concerned.

What exactly has SMU done that they seem to become the only relevant AAC team in your mind? Not really arguing against SMU, but its not as if they've separated themselves from the lead pack thus far.

I disagree with only ranking SMU because I think Temple is for real. I'm not sure if any of the rest of us are, but we have to give the Owls credit for what they've done.

There's not much separation among the top 6-7 teams right now. Will be interesting to see which teams can win on the road.

I watched on and off for the first half and I thought you guys looked pretty decent until the 7 minute mark in the first half. That scoring drought just killed you (obviously). It’s like you needed one big steal that led to a fast break dunk or a big 3 to break the ice and get the crowd back into the game and it never came. Like I said I was just flipping back and forth between the 2 games until the Temple game started so I couldn’t get too good a feel for it.

That would have been a valid comparison about 5-6 weeks ago.
Every team in the country has played at least 30% of the games they will play this season. Some teams have played more than 40% of their games.
But yes, there is still a lot of basketball to be played, and some teams that seem to have given up will improve, and some teams that seem to have it all together will stumble. Watching the drama unfold is what makes it interesting.

Why hurt anyone's feelings? May as well include USF, UCF and Houston on this list.
