Congrats to Boise, they deserve it. If they had a legitmate school in a state that people have been to before, theyd be a power 5 stronghold

Good game, never seen a tired offense and they were tired. Boise is so well conditioned.

Until we get to a better conference, I'd like to see the program get to where we are considered a perennial rival for Boise as best of the G5. It's a realistic goal, and we're close....

If you want to be the rival of Boise State, we're going to start beating "power 5" teams OOC, and winning bowl games.

Agreed, with an emphasis on the latter. Boise handily lost its only P5 game this year (Ole Miss), but still made it to the access bowl. We very well could have been the access bowl rep without the Memphis loss.

Boise State got on the map by beating Oregon...

I can do without the post-game brawl though.

That's what's been missing from the whole UC football ascent, the signature win over a national power. We've been close a few times.

(But the game that really put Boise on the map was the 2007 Fiesta Bowl win vs. Oklahoma.)

My 13 year old kid....love him...but I growled at him tonight when he asked if we had beaten Memphis if we would be playing Arizona. He knows how to push my buttons.

What p5 did they beat? BYU is farther out of the playoff system than we are.

Wait...I just replied to someone saying Memphis declared their superiority who deleted their post. Interesting.

But still, that loss doesn't look as bad now as it did then. The disappointing thing about this season, keeping in mind that we were conf co-champs and at least in the running for the access bowl, is that there we were 0-3 against the P5.

Boise has managed to consistently do something we have yet to do; win against their big name opponents on a big stage.

I still think that is just a pretty decent team. Nothing more. Problem is, we played down to just being pretty decent this year as well. Pretty decent just means middlin' but you beat the teams below you and lose to those ahead of you.

Boise has been doing it on a consistent basis for several years. They have multiple BCS trophies in their case. They also have some nice OOC wins over major conference foes. They struggled early this year but really put it together by late in the seaaon. We could not have beaten Arizona today.

This

I was watching some of this game and thought...Boise just gets it done. Then i thought we, by in large, do not.

We are? I have a very different sense of the state of the program than a lot of UC fans. Does everyone realize most computer systems rate us as roughly the 60th best team in the country?

You can't look at one year in isolation. At any rate, almost all of the teams ahead of us are P5. Even in a year when we lost a G5 game, and both P5 games, we were in the running for the access bowl. As for Boise, they weren't perfect, losing their only regular season P5 game and a G5 loss as well.

maybe so, but we aren't close to winning an access bowl. I hate to think how we would've fared against Arizona.
