Frankly they should have seen it coming. If you remember the final week of the regular season there were 4 ACC/SEC matchups and the ACC team won all of them, normally it's the SEC winning all 4.

Lville beat KY 44-40
Ga Tech beat GA 30-24
FSU beat Florida 24-19
Clemson beat USC 35-17

All of those were SEC East teams though. It was well established that the SEC West was the better of the two divisions.

To me, it shows how unpredictable single games can be, and it's also becoming one of the biggest reasons why I'm happy they finally went to a playoff and why I'll be happier when they go to 8 teams in the future.

If the BCS was still in use this year, the national championship game would've been Alabama vs. Florida State.

The BCS would have still given the right outcomes, just expand the BCS to the top 4 for a playoff instead of having a corrupt committee determine it.

Congrats to Toledo on the win in the GoDaddy Bowl. 2-3 for MAC teams in bowl games.

There is some irony that the two MAC winners were Toledo and BG (the "rivals").

It doesn't mean s**t what you or I say.

What matters is NIU claims we were MAC-West co-champs in 2002 or 2004. So, we can't fault Toledo for doing the same in recent years (including 2014).

Who cares what Toledo claims anyway? We've got the title that really matters, the one they want, the one they haven't had for 10 years!

Co-champs is such a dumb thing. If you won the tie-breaker, you're champ. If you didn't, you're not a co-champ, you're second place.

The West may be better than the East but the East was 5-0 this bowl season while the West was 2-5. The ACC played the SEC tough this year

The B1G had no use for Mizzou. They didn't bring anything in a TV market (plus Illinois gets plenty of coverage in STL) and wouldn't have carried their weight from a revenue standpoint. They fit geographically and would have been a good fit with Illinois but that's not how the B1G was/is making expansion decisions.

KC & St Louis aren't enough? What does Purdue, Indiana or Iowa bring? With Mizzou's success and Illinois's failings on the gridiron, I'll bet that CFB viewershp in St Louis has tilted heavily Mizzou's way. It's also keeps KC & St Louis out of the hands of the SEC who has few major media markets in it's foot print.

B10 is an unbalanced league now with the bulk of the strong teams in the East (Michigan also won't be down for long with Harbaugh), Mizzou in the West would have balanced that out a bit

IIRC, Mizzou also didn't fit the academic profile of the B1G.

They are a member of that American Association of Universities like all but one B1G school.

Exactly, thank you. How the B10 leadership can be so blind as to how good a fit they would be is hilarious.

Good for the MAC, the conference picked up a nationally competitive wrestling program!

No, KC and St. Louis aren't anywhere near enough. All the Big Ten wants is BTN carriage fees from as many households as possible. It's already been on for years in St. Louis because of Illinois. They don't care if UI's market share in STL is 5% or 50%. It doesn't matter, they're getting the fees for BTN there either way because UI has a large enough presence and alumni base there for it to be carried in STL. Getting Mizzou, from a revenue standpoint, stood to gain the conference almost nothing and likely would have reduced each current school's share.

Whether the figure is accurate or not, I don't know, but Delaney was quoted as saying in the last week or so that he believes each B1G school will receive $50 million a year in TV revenue when the B1G signs their next TV deal. He picked NY/NJ and DC over St. Louis. That TV deal is why.

We do want that but I do like having a good athletic department overall myself. We are doing our part to represent the MAC very well in Bowl games. Toledo has done a good job of representing the MAC for a very long time and not just in football. Thanks to all for the congrats!
