Should Rice drop from D1?
They're discussing this over on the realignment board, if anyone is interested.

Sorry for being so cynical about it, but of course many fans of other schools want us to drop football altogether. We are rising and are winning and may actually go to the access bowl in the near future.

Their "concerns" about our well-being are really just thinly veiled acts of jealousy.

RE: Should Rice drop from D1?
The question that was never answered was why the OP, who appears to have limited information, and wrong info at that, bothered to start the thread at all. Why, of all schools, he singled out Rice, is beyond me. Props to the posters going on there to fight the good fight and set the record straight. The majority of posters there believe that Rice is a program on the rise, and one that should continue to support, rather than eliminate, its D1 programs. That is the kind of publicity that we need.

That thread has some first rate snark in it, especially from Bone! Also, it is heartwarming to see us respond in defense of our school and program when outsiders attack. We may disagree with each other on how good we're doing and how prepared we are to rise up, but woe be to the non-Rice folks who do so.
