You guys have no clue how lucky you are. You just got *much* better. Woodfin was our all time leading tackler until Marvin Burdette led the NCAA in tackles a couple of seasons back. He's incredibly intense, he's a solid coach and leader, and a better man. He came to us from the Green Bay Packers, to work for Bill Clark, who he played for in high school.
On the one hand I hate to see him got to Southern Miss, because, well, it's y'all. On the other hand, there is no program in the conference I respect more, and I'm really happy to see Zac land on his feet.
Your kids will be much better next season, but they're gonna be crying in the spring.
Thanks for the reply. I'm very impressed from what I've seen and excited for spring.
I'm also interested to see where Bill Clark lands. My neighbor played for him at Tuscaloosa County High School back in the day and told me that UAB hired a gem. He was right. Hate what happened to your program. Don't stop fighting.
The team was running stairs at LF and Zac saw Tim Alexander watching. He asked him if he wanted to go up there too, and Tim said yes. Woodfin put him on his back and started up, and as you'd expect his legs started getting rubbery about thirty or forty steps up. The team gathered around, helped take the weight, and together they lifted and carried Tim to the very top.
They started up UAB football players, but they came back down as one family.
I bleed to see this man leave us after we were lucky enough to have him bring his spirit and talents back home. Maybe one day he'll be our head coach. I certainly hope so.

He got canned after the season (or mid December give or take a few days)
So is Woodfin the second strength coach Todd Monken hired, or the third? I had thought he fired his initial choice a year ago (big middle-aged black dude who supposedly got really emotional at meetings), but maybe that coach actually made it two years...?
Anyhow, that job has been a nagging issue for quite a while, but Woodfin looks like a potential success

He was doing special crossfit humperdinks and dropped a safe on his foot. Word is he's "just fine", but Monken wasn't impressed by the incident and decided to make a change.

Here's what I know.....you guys became better.
I hope you are right with the "how lucky" sentiment.....
I hope he wears their nuts out come spring time......
Word is UTSA fired our WR and OL coaches. Any UAB coaches worth looking at? Doing a simple search it looks like the entire UAB staff came from Jacksonville St a year ago...it's as if everyone knew the program was going to be killed and bailed.

This is according to Twitter PM's that appeared back in late November: Mcgee apparently knew it was an option so he went back to Louisville with Petrino. He was a dead man walking anyway. The fans didn't want Mcgee here anymore.
Our President, AD, etc. went out to find a coach and did just that. They probably assumed that he couldn't win in 1 season. Well UAB hired the best coach we've ever had and we ended at 6-6 in a major turn-around season.
Any of UAB's coaches from last season are worth having. We went from a bad 2-10 season to a pretty good 6-6 team that took Marshall to a failed 4th and inches on their 10 for the win. Many of them have already found jobs though.
