Autozone Liberty Bowl: Texas A&M vs West Virginia
I think of the Liberty Bowl as like the southern version of the Sun Bowl, a venerable old middle tier bowl.

WVU seems to be gelling while TAMU is sleepwalking at the end of a disappointing season. WVU 35. TAMU 20

Awful attendance. Why did ESPN schedule a game at 1pm on a Monday.

Should have had this on Saturday along with other games.

Typical classless Aggies after the targeting penalty.

I was gonna say, he clearly led with his helmet and hit that kid in the head and then he tries to fire up the crowd and sarcastically clap at the refs? What a douchebag.

quo, I think your prediction is going to come up short. There's going to be a lot of offense in this game.

28-27 TAMU at the half. Typical Big 12 game, lol.

A&M coach with a cheap shot on a WVU player. Classy.

I get so frustrated watching/listening to WVU football games sometimes. We can play way better than we do. Anyone else feel the same way about their team, or is it just me?

Two cheap shots, apparently.

TAMU leads 45-30. Aggies doing a good job running the ball. WVU defense not getting it done.

Seemed like Holgorsen relied too much on a mis-firing QB. I couldn't believe they threw 3 straight passes inside the 10 after that roughing the kicker. They did move it pretty much at will in the 1st half passing almost all the time and his inaccuracy then, but he was just missing all the time in the 2nd.

Each team scored 7 times, but WVU settled 3 times for FGs and A&M converted all but once for TDs. That was the ultimate difference.

That WV QB had day's notice that he'd be starting, and I think he's a redshirt freshman. Bit could tell you, but I thought the kid grew up quickly during that game.

Howard was a sophomore transfer from juco. The freshman was Crest, who redshirted due to injury.

The only problem with replacing Skyler Howard at QB is that would have required Holgorsen to burn the redshirt on Paul Millard, who he wanted to keep in reserve for next year. That way WVU will have an experienced backup QB next year, instead of relying on a juco transfer and 3 freshmen with little or no experience.

The only other option would have been playing a QB who spent the entire year practicing as a WR, Logan Moore. But Moore wasn't a viable option at QB. Howard was the better of the 2 QBs.

IMO Holgorsen made the right call. He lost the bowl game. But he improved his odds of having a successful season next year. Short term benefit at the expense of long term success is always a losing proposition.

I just thought he should have run more often instead of throwing it so much. Keep the defense a little honest, ease up the pass rush. And they did have some success running in the 2nd-just didn't try much.

Smallwood was running great, and averaged around 9ypc. Shell was not a factor at all, and his carries were wasted IMO.

Howard ran okay at times. But his decision making was off, and many of his incomplete passes were on audibles. Who really knows what was called, beside Howard and WVU coaches? There may have been more runs called that were changed at the line of scrimmage. I think the pressure of the big game got to Howard, since he was pressing the entire game. It happens.

Thanks, and same to you. The future looks very bright for A&M.

I hope Sumlin is able to gain control of his sideline and post-whistle antics on the field. Five or six personal fouls and two different instances of players getting punched at the end of a play on your sideline (neither of which were not included in the personal foul count) is not indicative of your school. I would hate for that kind of stuff to sour your program's great reputation.

Yeah that aTm GA needs to be gone. Horrible behavior.
