Gas prices around town
Seems to be somewhat of a wide pricing variance on gas at the moment. The lowest I have seen is $1.87 on Summer just east of Highland.
$1.89 Summer & Perkins
$1.99 Highland and Southern

RE: Gas prices around town
Gas prices are going down, and that's great. I hope it's a bit more permanent than the drastic price drop in 2008.

Prices were raging toward $5 per gallon. Never saw it hit that mark, but we did see prices in excess of $4/gal.

2008 was a presidential election year. People were complaining and demanding "Drill Now!"

W mentioned the possibility of drilling. That may or may not have had any impact, but prices started to fall.

In December of 2008 I took a video of the gas pump I was using that shows the price at $1.34/gal. And that was at the Texaco on 64 and Reid Hooker, a station whose price tends to be higher than the area average.

I paid $1.86 today at Kroger on Winchester/Hacks this morning. Used .10 worth of Kroger rewards. It's a very nice change.

Was that $1.86 before your rewards points or after?

After. $1.96 advertised. $1.93 if you just use your Kroger card with no rewards.

RE: Gas prices around town
Typical prices here from $2.08 to $2.30's. Thanks to goofy state laws Kroger, Sam's, etc... can't use the same discounting practices like they use in other states. My mom uses her Walmart card in TN to get a discount. When she visits here in AL she pays the posted price but when she gets her credit card statement the charge is adjusted to reflect the discount. Illegal at the pump but OK on the CC statement.
