The niners have been throwing away good people for 30 years...

Um...who exactly? Walsh retired after multiple SB wins. So did Seifert. Steve Young had more upside than Joe Montana when Montana and the Niners parted ways.

No one was going to give up what the 49ers wanted in draft picks for Harbaugh.

Yeah, I thought the Bears might be willing to do that because I knew Tressman was on the outs after the year. The guy is still looked at as a smart offensive coach. He has had a dud of a quarterback, that Harbaugh might be able to turn around mentally. I thought that it might have been seen as about the most even trade available so that whatever draft picks would have had to be given by the Bears would be lower pick(s). I didn't see the Raiders having anything the 49ers would want so bad that they would allow Harbaugh to turn the team across the Bay into a good team.

Let me tell you guys why you should have Never, Ever, bought into the talk about the 49ers possibly trading Harbaugh to Oakland.

First off, over the past couple decades, the 49ers have drawn more and more fans from across the Bay. Fans that traditionally would have been Raider fans if the Raiders hadn't been shite for the past couple of decades. Just look at what the 49er fanbase has become known for.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl...s/2981447/

They did the freaking Wave while Calais Campbell was laying on the ground seriously injured. The 49ers PA guy even tried to hush them. It didn't work. The 49ers are the new Raiders. What we see is the poor behavior of the fans. What the Owner sees is that the 49ers have wiped out the Raiders as a competitive entity across the Bay. The 49ers are making more money than ever from that. They were so confident in this new reality that they went ahead with plans for a new Stadium all the way down in Santa Clara.

That is a massive investment move for the 49ers. They were never going to allow Harbaugh to go over to Oakland and make them viable. Many of those fans would have started attending some Raiders games. The affect would have been immediate and would have continued to snowball if Harbaugh found a way to win.

There was 0% chance the 49ers would have traded Harbaugh to Oakland.

Kinda bummed out that Harbaugh didn't ghost-write an SI.com column announcing his intentions like Lebron did. That would have been a great capper on 2014, right there.

Agreed (+4) that SF ownership and brass are nuts.

Acutally Seifert was fired and replaced with Mariucci. Seifert retired after getting fired by the Panthers a few years later. Mariucci was fired and replaced by Dennis Erickson lol.

The 49ers ownership post-Eddie DeBartolo (he was forced to sell to his sister, whose cheapskate husband John York took over) is notoriously sheisty. They are cheap to the point where they didn't have enough gatorades in the lockerroom a few years ago. They started to change their tune, and then they pulled this crap on Harbaugh now. They are fools, like the New York Mets ownership.

Harbaugh wanted to stay the 49ers coach, that's why. It wasn't his call to leave. Michigan firing Hoke just happened to work out perfectly for Jim, but he was planning on turning down Michigan's offer of doubled annual salary to stay coach of the 49ers.

When they asked him why he was leaving, his response: "you work at the pleasure of the organization" aka they told him he was not coming back.

^ he took the Michigan job because Jed York fired him. Be happy, you now have arguably a top 3 coach in college football.

The 49ers are fools.

Harbaugh will be bringing Greg Roman over as OC. He's a good college style OC, but his gimmicky offense really sucked in the pros. DJ Durkin to be hired as DC.

Yes they are.

San Francisco Owner Jed York:

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York said "philosophical" differences that could not be reconciled between the Niners and Jim Harbaugh led to the ultimate breakup between team and coach and added that he wants a "teacher" as the Niners' next head coach.
