I agree. Great venue, solid opponent and a very good crowd. We need to guarantee our 1-3 pick and try to lure a higher ACC team with this one. Then hopefully enhance the Miami beach bowl opponent and we will be onto something.

We need a P5 opponent for the Miami Beach Bowl.

We need a new venue for that bowl. There was about 60 yards of baseball field between the fans and Memphis bench, and the shadows were awful.

What are you talking about. I was there the fans were not 60 yards away.

I am worried that the higher quality teams in the AAC (multiple teams) will continue to 'beat up on each other' and result in 2-3 loss champions, whereas Boysee (Love that!) will continue to wreck a comparatively weaker MWC and get that Access bowl slot most years.

Given the current situation, Genius move on their part getting the money AND the easier path to a BCS bowl...

The attention that Marshall got before they lost... even given a high school schedule, supports my concern...

But we shall see. Hope this does not happen.

It wouldn't be a bad idea if AAC teams attempted to agree to a series with Boise St to knock them off
[/quote

that's already happened right? Cincinnati has a series with them, ECU is rumored to and UCONN played part 1 of their series with Boise at home this year (UCONN lost)....Boise has shown they LL come east for games....Georgia (twice) Arkansas (twice), Ole Miss, michigan St, Virginia Tech and Tulsa all come to mind as recent OOC games where Boise has traveled to. That shouldn't be a problem. Looking at Boise 's future home game schedule they have some monsters coming into the Smurf turf soon: Florida St,Miami Michigan St, Washington, Washington St, Virgina,Oregon St and of course BYU every other year. ESPN loves them some Boyzee

Bowl looked "big time" on tv...nice fan support.

UC looked small time however.

I listened to the game on the radio. The color analyst said VT's defense did a "great job" of knocking Kiel out of the game.

I don't think I would praise a defense on the air for a "mission accomplished" ... knocking the opposing QB out.

Especially considering it was a clear Spearing call that didn't get called. Kid led with his helmet. Unreal.

Yet UC got penalized on our first touchdown for saluting our mascot...in the Military Bowl.

Being located practically next door to Va Tech's biggest alumni area (Washington, DC Metro), certainly help.

Having huge P5 fan bases located mins away certainly helped this bowl game this year...compared to some past match-ups at RFK that had a hard time drawing flies (i.e. had Wake Forest, UCLA, plus some years without a BCS/P5 team).

Getting the game out of the miserabe/terrible/ugly multi-purpose RFK into a "right size" smaller and much nicer FOOTBALL stadium was a great move for this game...and maybe even saved it.

Won't be that bad. ...you won't have to deal with Navy's offense in a bowl game.

Since it's an ACC opponent, I'd think ECU would jump at it, every opportunity.
Good potential shot at an in-state rival.

It was a great bowl venue. I would definitely go back and I generally dislike this bowl lineup.

I know people talk about too many bowls, but the way you saw these kids celebrate after a win, you can tell they appreciate the chance for one last game. I guess I am just long inthe tooth, but I love bowl week. 04-cheers
