Rutgers off to a quick start.

I like their NYPD hats!

On another note: Why is this the inaugural bowl if there have been games played at Ford Field for more than a decade?

You would think they would want to build some tradition of the Motor City Bowl.

I see two teams, some referees, and some vendors, but the crowd must be locked outside the gates because nobody is there.

Well, you know, there are about ten thousand other better things to do in Detroit in December than watch an indoor football game. 03-lmfao

Ahhh! Basketball season in North Carolina and Detroit is not a destination city for an Eastern school from New Jersey the day after Christmas. This is the bowl that should have featured a directional Michigan school against somebody else.

SEC wants UNC for the recruits and market, not for their basketball or football teams.03-puke

FWIW, Detroit has been fun so far. The day after Christmas is a crappy time for a bowl however.

Of the seventeen times the former Motor City Bowl was played, only one (CMU vs. WKU in a blizzard) was less-attended than today's game. This game should always be MAC vs. Big Ten.

You would think they would want to build some tradition of the Motor City Bowl.

The Motor City Bowl/Little Caesars Pizza Bowl were 1 bowl run by the same organization for 15+ yrs. After last season, the Lions kicked the LCPB out of Ford Field so the Lions could start up their own bowl - the Quick Lane Bowl. In the process, they kicked out the MAC because attendance started going down and they basically blamed the MAC (the LCPB was always a contract between the MAC and P1G for the last 10-12 or so yrs, but the P1G was only able to get enough bowl eligible teams 3 times since the LCPB had the 9th P1G pick). So they kicked the MAC out and signed the ACC. And look what happens - the 2nd worst attended bowl EVER in Detroit. The only worse attended bowl was played during a blizzard in '12 (?) - and that only had about 500 less people than tonight's game had.

RE: Quick Lane Bowl -- North Carolina vs. Rutgers
UNC was picked during pre season to win their division and play Florida St. For the conference championship (they ended up 4-4 tied for 3rd), they got stomped by NCSU the last game of regular season and entered the bowl game 6-6 and the media gave them a 68% chance of beating Rutgers (who had a winning record) and UNC were a 3.5 point favorite.

Why does the media continue to try to make UNC a football school? Why do they over promote them?

RE: Quick Lane Bowl -- North Carolina vs. Rutgers
UNC is over promoted as one of the best brands in the ACC.

Kentucky by that measure should have better football treatment by the media.
