I have an idea. The Grizzlies could trade Koufos to Cavs, Prince and Pondexter to Boston for Jeff Green in a 3 way trade. And then sign Tarik Black to back up the bigs. Tarik has a lot of upside and Randolph could teach him.

Getting waived does not effect his salary, right? Could be actually be getting paid by the rockets and get any new contract as well? Sort of like how Gilbert arenas was still getting his $20 million for a year or two after he was no longer playing for Washington? If so could work out nicely for Black

Sounds like it was between Tarik and Dorsey and they chose Tarik because Joey's contract is 2 years, $2 million and they'd likely still be on the hook for it evn if they waived him.

I believe that is correct. Black was getting more PT. It was a game of numbers. They coulda at least let him play once more in front of his friends and family tonight.
