P5 OOC Home Games?
I was looking at some of the C-USA OOC games next season, and I noticed FAU has lined up Miami for a home game. This year FIU was able to lure Louisville and Pitt to their 23,500 seat stadium.

A few questions...

Do any other C-USA programs have quality P5s signed to "home and home" series?

and, if so...

What are y'all doing to get these teams to play in your stadiums?

North Texas built a great 30,800 seat venue for football, and can't seem to land a P5. We've got Portland State, and Incarnate Word coming to Apogee. Although, we will be glad to have a few easy wins, this type of scheduling doesn't excite the fans. I'm very jealous of our C-USA brethren that have managed to sign up P5s. 03-hissyfit

I know we have Vanderbilt at home this season. It's a 2-2 deal with the first game at our place.

Marshall hosts Purdue in 2015, Louisville in 2016, NC State in 2018, and Pittsburgh in 2020. All 1-1 deals.

See, this is what I'm talking about. We don't have any teams near that caliber coming to Denton in the coming years. Why can't North Texas schedule these types of teams? I personally believe scheduling teams like Portland State, and Incarnate Word is hurting our recruiting. Kids want their family to be able to come and watch them play OOC games against quality known programs that are respected. We play in C-USA now. We need schedule like teams in C-USA schedule.

You have no idea how jealous I am right now. I would love to see any one of those teams play North Texas in Apogee.

The last time we got a P5 at home was in 2011, when we beat Indiana 24-21.

Wake Forest home 2020 (H&H)
VA Tech home 2022 (H&H)

In fairness, we still need to get those games to actually happen (rather than them getting bought out).

But - so far so good.

And thanks - I'm sure you guys will get there with your facility.

You don't take no for an answer when you ask for 1-1. Everyone has spots to fill. You need an AD with some good connections who can get these people to play you. Your location is an easy one, though. Tough to attract teams to Huntington with no recruiting, amenities, or attractions for families. Great gameday atmosphere, but that's about it around here.

That's what's so frustrating... What P5 doesn't want to play a televised game in the Dallas area. I'd think they'd be lining up to play in front of recruits.

We also have a future Home and away with Duke. And, since we play Illinois at their place in 2015; I suspect the Illini deal is a two for one; just like we've done with Minnesota and Ga Tech in previous years.

I think the Illinois game is a one off away game with no other games currently scheduled. And I think the Minnesota series was technically a 1 and 1, then we happened to sign another game @ Minnesota later, or maybe it was before the 1 and 1.

I believe we had one Money-5 home game each year from 2006 to 2011. We seem to have deviated from that for what I assume are financial reasons, although we did have BYU this season as part of a home and home.

Future schedule

2015 - Vanderbilt
2017 - Vanderbilt
2019 - Duke

RE: P5 OOC Home Games?
Our AD has a policy of scheduling games on a home and home policy only. In this aspect, he has been successful with his strategy. We had a 2-2 series with Louisville, a 1-1 with Rutgers, a 1-1 with Pitt, and a 1-1 with Duke. FIU will host Indiana and Maryland in 2016 and resume the University of Miami series in 2018-2019, with the home game coming in 2019.

I think what UTEP is doing is scheduling the home game first then away with Cabal teams in order for those schools not to renege on their deal.

UTEP has hosted Texas and Oklahoma in recent years but those were 2 for 1. UTEP has hosted Texas Tech and Kansas with 1-1 deals. We have Arizona for a 1-1 starting in 2016. But we also still play money games from time to time. Next year we play at Arkansas in a 1 and done and last year we did the same with Texas A&M. Mixed bag for us.
