Happy birthday, Jesus
Thank you, Lord, for coming to Earth to pay the price for my sins. Thank you for being the best present I could ever have. Be honored, glorified and worshiped today. You are worthy.

Merry Christmas to all.

Happy Holiday season from Beijing.

"Holiday" instead of "Holidays" because it is three day weekend for New Year's is it (three day weekend because Sunday we make up the Friday "holiday".)

RE: Happy birthday, Jesus
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, regardless of your faith tradition.

I think one thing folks forget is that a God created everything. So he is the Creator (capital letter).

There aren't multiple gods who (individually) created Israel or Europe or Asia or North America, or Africa, etc.

We have different nationalities, different races, different cultures, different languages, different beliefs, yet somehow I think we are still part of the same creation.

If we are all part of the same creation then we all share a common heritage even though nationalities, races, languages, religion, etc. may apparently separate us from that common heritage.

On December 25 each year we celebrate the Christian belief and tradition of our common heritage.

On other days, those of different faith traditions celebrate their beliefs.

Well, let's not forget the pagans, the atheists, the agnostics, and the just disinterested-in-religion folks.

And Happy New Year to all! Even those who use different calendars!

The fun thing about growing up with a Roman Catholic Mom and Russian Orthodox dad, 2 different calendars. The Julian calendar celebrates Christmas 2 weeks after the Western Calendar so more gifts and at a huge after "Christmas" savings

Axeme's post had nothing to do with the OP's post. He could have ignored the OP or created a new thread, but instead thought he had to insert an inappropriate comment. Its a shame some are taught to loud-mouth garbage at any opportunity and think they are witty at doing it.

whatever.

It'd be like saying "Happy Birthday, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr, and thank you for your championing of civil rights and racial equality" on Jan 19.

And then someone comes in and says we mustn't forget about everyone else on that day too.

Everyone, including segregationists, needs to be thanked for being a nationally known leader for civil rights?

The follow up post just doesn't fit.

You are absolutely correct, you can also party-crash a kids birthday party and act like a jerk - but it's classless. Just saying to start a new thread and talk about whatever it is you do.

No need to troll, even though I understand that is the intended purpose.

Three things.

1. My post came after several other posts acknowledging that this is a holiday season for a variety of beliefs, and it came after Christmas, so a New Year's greeting was more appropriate. I have friends and relatives who are atheists, agnostics, Christians, Jews, and Muslims. There was no intent to be a smartass. Actually don't know any practicing pagans, but why not be inclusive? A lot of our holidays are glommed onto original pagan holidays, like the winter solstice, in this case.

2. Since when do you only post comments directly related to an OP's first comments? Are you now holding yourself to that standard? Or is this a standard only I need observe?

3. What's the appropriateness a religious thread on a college sports board, and if there is a need, why need it be exclusively Christian?

Personally, I had read yours as a direct response to the original poster, and I was defending him a bit because I didn't see anything "evangelical" or pushy in his post. Maybe that's how Mia O-Y read it too.

Honest misinterpretation, I stand corrected.

RE: Happy birthday, Jesus
For the creative types - its the Christ in Christmas and that is we why as a people, a nation have it made it a Holiday. It is a Christian holy day. It is not in reverence or observance of any other people , groups of people or individuals. The etymology of holiday is from the Old English, Holy Day.
