Some people may think the Memphis-BYU brawl was a bad thing but ESPN ate that **** up and lots of people talked about it. Having all the coaches and players talk **** about each other will give ESPN plenty of storylines to build up each game. It may even lead to more brawls which brings more eyeballs and more coverage from ESPN.

I think this may have been taken out of context. GOL isn't known for smack talking, he doesn't even give hype speeches bc he says hype is gone after a minute or so. Maybe it was poorly worded but I think he was just trying to highlight how proud he is of his senior class.
I have a hard time believing a veteran and smart coach like GOL would unnecessarily rile up Memphis and USF. If his statement was not taken out of context, then it was a stupid act that gains nothing but focus by Memphis and USF the next time they play.

ask Coach Taggart how riling up his team worked out for them this season. He was showing them UCF games from 7 years ago and hitting crash dummies. An Oleary quote from December means nothing

On the opposite end, Coach Leavitt gave a hell of a speech and got his boys pumped back in 07... and we know what happened. I believe that was the year UCF said something about Moffitts wife...and defense took it personally.
Sometimes it works... others not so much.

Coaches push every lever to motivate their teams. O'Leary gave them material they would otherwise lack. It was unwise and surprising.

Just shows how little you know about Coach O'Leary...but thanks for responding and proving that fact for everyone else.

The feeble minded and ignorant can believe as they wish, but it will not change the meaning of O'Leary's quote and its possible motivation potential in the future.

Look it up for yourself, the guy just doesn't believe in smack talk. Games to him are won with schemes and execution he doesn't care about that but even if you believed that or Memphis believed that it wouldn't do much good since we don't play for a few years anyhow.

We would have had, I'd have to go back, but we've had a number of 10-win seasons. 11 or 12 win seasons."

Is he the guy who had something wrong with his resume?

Yes, not very bright either. Lie on your resume for a regular job - not likely to get caught. A lie(s) on your resume in college coaching is very stupid. Even thugs are smarter than that. 03-shhhh
