Believe it or not, I have seen a few Pitt fans mentioning names ranging from Dan Mullen to Brian Kelly to Al Golden to Mike Shanahan for this job. I guess Nick Saban didn't make the cut. All seemed pretty unlikely to me, but what do I know?

No more unlikely than some of the names I've seen thrown out for the WVU AD job. Fans are fans, you know.

Would not be surprised if Pitt called a certain AD about Narduzzi...if not Petrino he would have been our HC...

I can't find anything I don't like about Narduzzi becoming our next HC. He's a coordinator so obviously he could be boom or bust but he seems to be a good fit for the culture of the city and university and is obviously a talented coordinator.

The biggest test is going to be managing others and game day decision making. We'll just have to see on that.

Yeah, but he's not Tom Bradley!

I've heard that as well. Don't know how true it is, but I've heard that...

I know, right. I can't believe this fascination with Tom Bradley. I understood it years ago but today I just can't figure it out.

Ask yourself this - why didn't PSU hire him? They had multiple chances. Maybe you say it's because of the scandal - OK. Why didn't anyone else hire him?

It's not just the scandal. Why should Pitt hire him, then?

Why do you assume that other schools would not be reluctant to hire him as the face of their program because of that scandal? What makes you say "it's not just the scandal"? Do you know of some other reason? If it were his coaching ability, why is he making $600K a year as an assistant?

We'll know if it's a home run when he crosses the plate.

Done deal and he has a great upward trajectory.04-cheers

From the link:

Narduzzi inherits a young team that has more than 80 freshmen and sophomores on the roster, including running back James Conner and wide receiver Tyler Boyd. Conner was named the ACC Player of the Year after running for 1,675 yards and a school-record 24 touchdowns, while Boyd is one of the most electrifying skill players in the country. Both will stick around for at least one more season, giving Narduzzi a solid jumping off point as he tries to forge his own identity in his first head coaching job.

With any coaching hire I'll give the benefit of the doubt. ESPiN seems to love this hire, but that ultimately means squat. I can't wait to see what he ultimately brings to the table on our defensive side of the ball.

RE: Report: Michigan State DC Pat Narduzzi leading Candidate @ Pitt
Earlier this year was listening to SiriusXM NFL radio and the host Taeko Spikes-(15 Year NFL Vet) raved about the way Narduzzi had coached up his players while in College and they were extremely prepared as players by the time they got to the league.

Yes time will tell but the way him and Dantonio built that defense and the way he has shown in his ability to talent evaluate and recruit it should be successful...but you're right time will tell.

It is now "Official":

After another year of leading a terrific Michigan State defense, Pat Narduzzi will take his first head coaching job with Pittsburgh.

Narduzzi was officially introduced to the Pittsburgh media in a news conference on Friday. He thanked his "Spartan Dawgs" and Mark Dantonio for "incredible" years at Michigan State.
