positives for next season
I think we'll be okay in the MAC next year. That's not saying too much, however. I think we will be challenged in the OOC games and postseason, again, as usual.

RE: positives for next season
The 2015 Huskies should be much improved:
QB - another year of experience should result in significant improvement for Hare. He was solid but limited this year; next year he will be better
RB - another area of improvement. Cam was special at times, but his explosiveness was only shown past the LOS. Akeem had a great career but his best years were his first few. ACRB will lead a solid group; Huff could be real special
WR - we lose Brown which is huge; but I am hearing Golladay may be even better. We get TLL back; Brescacin and Beebe are proven; Saffold and Turner are ready to take big steps.
TE - someone has a great opportunity to replace Eakes; we need to make better use of this position.
OL - some BIG shoes to fill here; our biggest question mark; but Ness and Conlon are both excellent and experienced
DL - Meehan had a good year, especially early on; but we return a lot of young talented players; Ford should have a great year
LB - next year's group could be our best ever; Mays will be challenged by Payton at MLB; Lemon is solid and Folliard could be something special. We lose Bass who didn't play, and Santa, who played really well, but was more valuable as a leader than a player. Someone (Folliard) has to assume that role, and get everyone on the same page.
DB - we lose Durante, but this group has so much young talent; some of which we have never seen.
Special team - we need someone to step up at Punter and LS

Biggest concern...OLine, back up to Hare. On D..senior leadership.

Tough to not be optimistic...the schedule is a challenge, but on paper, this team could be one of our best ever.

I think 2-2 in ooc schedule, and 2 losses in Mac, now Mac championship, crappy bowl game and a loss

What about CMU?

We have traditionally a hard time against them.

Good analysis.

Team synergy, coaching, motivation, kickers confidence and sadly injuries all make predictions difficult.

NIU does seem to be attracting bigger recruits then previously.
Five years of MCC in Detroit is huge.
Five years of 11+ wins is incredible.
Six years would equal Marshall's record.

CMU beat us by 17 points last year and we play them away next season.

WMU is growing stronger every year with several impact recruits.
They lead the MAC again with the top recruiting class.
They have a young team and could beat NIU next season.

Toledo are the annual favorites.

BSU could upset anyone of the above teams.

Whomever wins the MAC West should win in Detroit, provided injuries are limited.

Most of their top players aren't eligible for the draft.

Barrett will be healthy. And if he's not, Jones is plenty good.
Elliot is a sophomore.
Michael Thomas is a sophomore.
Joey Bosa is an absolute beast and only a sophomore.

Damn you Urban Meyer!

The MAC next year probably will be the best that its been since 2003. The winner of the MAC will certainly have earned it next year. Toledo really sitting pretty unfortunately will both WMU and NIU in the Glass Bowl.

It's possible I guess but unlikely. I don't see any Gradkowskis or Roethlisbergers or Michael Turners among the current crop. We'll have better QB play in the MAC next year, no doubt. And the champ will be better, probably.

And NIU owes Urban Meyer for his wisecrack about Huskie Stadium back in 02. I really hope Drew Hare has improved by that game and is able to make to some quicker decisions, or ugly would be a very flattering way to put the OSU game.

As I recall, he merely said Huskie Stadium was the loudest and most intimidating place they played all season including OSU and Purdue.

Frankly, as that was exactly the sort of environment we were trying to create, and that Coach Novak had asked the fans to create, I took that as a compliment.

Maybe I'm jaded but I am not seeing WR as a strength. Some good quality role players for sure but no horse/s. The TLL hype all centers on him being the TLL of two years ago but after AD this year, I don't count on him being that guy in his fifth year post injuries. If he loses a step he is just another role player. I'm not sold on that unit

Hare had a very good season as a 2nd yr QB. He has to refine some things but that is what practice is for and the Chessick Center is the place to do it. Lynch had to sit 3 yrs before h got his chance so if Root is unwilling he should move on. Don't wnat anyone who does not want to be here. As it stands, Root sat out his redshirt, now if he wants to play D1, has to sit out next year and then compete for the position.

Hare could turn into senior year Harnish and NIU is still going to lose by 5+ TDs to Ohio State.

Lets think about this the Buckeyes record under Meyer is what? You wnat to go into this game and play well and make OSU earn the victory.

I'm not saying it as some negative towards NIU, look what Ohio State did to pretty much everyone but that weird VaTech game this year.

If it's a game at halftime I'll be thrilled.
