This is a significant loss. Unless I am mistaken, Tom Clark oversaw special teams. I do not have Rocco's gift for numbers, but from a fan's eye our special teams have improved significantly under his watch.

I think our special teams have improved because we have much more athletic depth than 10 years ago. Our back up defensive players are far better than our backups a decade ago. This helps special teams a lot. In the past every "athlete" ended up on offense, but not any more, and that's a good thing.

Regardless, it's a blow, but it isn't like we have seen our share of assistant coaches leave (and be successful).

Good luck Tom. You've got your work cut out at VMI. Probably one of the most difficult jobs on the planet given the size and talent level that they recruit.
