Geno Ford not loved
The heat is on to get rid of Geno Ford at Bradley. Just read comments on the BB forum there and they've had enough. Apparently he got a recent extension which compounds things. Here's a sample of what the fans are posting:
Geno

Sorry, but enough is enough. You're worse than Les was and that's saying something. That's saying a ton actually. This is one huge dumpster fire!
Some men just want to watch the world burn.
Another fan:
Bring back Mo! Omg this is worse than I ever thought it could be.

I wouldn't be surprised if Geno ends up coaching at a D3 school at his next stop.

Don't you hate it when you total a car when you still have payments on it? I think Geno is going to total Bradley before he's done paying for his release from Kent State.

Collecting may be an issue since he will probably be fired any day or the end of the season for sure.

RE: Geno Ford not loved
I read on the Bradley board that Kent has already put in to garnish his wages in Peoria County, Illinois.
It isn't just Geno that is in trouble at Bradley. It sounds like the trustees are about to rebel on the president, who is considered a disaster on many fronts. Schools like Bradley are already suffering from demographic changes and it sounds like there might be transparency issues. Big picture: if the President goes down, so will the AD and so will Geno, but I don't know if anyone above Geno is going to worry about canning him right now because of these other issues.
My take is that he is done as a D1 head coach after Bradley fires him. His run at Bradley has been a disaster, with complaints about recruiting, preparation and in-game coaching. He'll be back to D1 Assistant at the mid-major level or will have to drop down to D2 or lower to find a head coaching job.
Shame on Bradley for letting this go on instead of helping Geno settle with Kent. I'm sure the distraction has hurt Geno. Of course, Bradley got what they deserved though.

I was really a fan of Geno while he was here. When he bolted, or the manner in which he bolted, I turned completely against him. It was obvious that this was a dumb move. He could probably have stayed at Kent as long as he wished. He had a name and was respected throughout the state of Ohio. So, he goes to a place where he has no name recognition at all. Worse yet, he creates baggage to take with him. Obviously, not an intellect.

Probably worse for Geno is that he lost Senderoff as his top assistant. My thinking is that Senderoff and Ford make a really good team, but Ford without him isn't any good. At least Senderoff can hold his own. Kent won in that bargain in the end.
No, not an intellect. Most of his professional moves were quarter-baked and it looks like it finally bit him hard. He never should have signed the extension as written if he didn't plan on staying 3 years into it at least. Just plain dumb.

Probably, but that will be a real setback to a life style.

So as they say, this was all for not? Or was this just a win on principal and not financial? A lot of negative publicity for Geno/KSU over this whole thing.

News from Peoria: Bradley's President is 'retiring' in May. At this point, most are assuming that the AD and Ford are done, but I think they'll wait until they bring in a new President before any of that happens. Ford's days are numbered. If he doesn't get fired this year, it'll take a miracle season to keep the job after next year.
Now, as far as Kent getting paid, it turns out that Bradley gave Ford an extension on his contract after the 2nd year. Supposedly (and strangely enough, this doesn't seem to be public knowledge, but local news columnist has it from multiple sources), Geno has three years on his contract left after this year. That'll be enough to pay Kent the settlement.

I stand by my statement that we won't ever get paid. Also, from what I am hearing Geno probably skates by and won't get fired this year because they, like many others, just don't have the money to make the move yet. But when the AD gets canned you can pretty much be assured Geno is one of the next to go.

Don't doubt that Geno never wants to pay us, but that's not up to him. Bankruptcy is not an option. Under Illinois law, he won't qualify for Chapter 7 unless he is in a much bigger financial hole than what he owes us. Even if true, he'd have to liquidate everything but his home and live off a pre tax income that is about 15% of his current contract. Not pretty. Chapter 13 just puts him in a 3-5 year repayment plan to us, so what's the point?
Besides, if reports are true that his wages are garnished, his intent to pay is irrelevant.
