My brother in law showed it last night for family. It didn't look very good.

just to be clear, you are suggesting that SONY created a "marketing ploy" that involved the leaking of 6 other movies, several of which were considered more valuable than The Interview. A "marketing ploy" that saw the distribution of this movie limited to just 300 theaters when it was originally slated to be distributed to several thousand theaters. All in the name of a film that has been pirated illegally 750,000 times in the first 24 hrs since it was launched because SONY allowed it to be streamed the day it hit theaters verifying why motion pictures companies don't do that.

I didn't say it was a smart marketing ploy.

There's a reputable poster on the Cincinnati board that says North Korea had no involvement. He knows and tends to be right when it comes to subjects such as this one.

North Korea is calling Obama a "monkey".

Even though I don't like Obama, that pisses me off. I hope we're working on something to harm the North Korean regime. If we're not doing anything, we're pathetic.

whether it was NK, a disgruntled SONY employee, whoever did it wanted to hurt SONY badly, and used the interview as their target of cover.

Exactly, Rogan movies are intended to be over the top, with intentionally stupid middle school type jokes and unreal gore scenes (see This is the End, Pineapple Express) so if you like that you will enjoy The Interview. Some really good moments(the Eminem interview was gold) and overall a pretty good political satire. Certainly sticks it to Kim Jong-un and takes some good shots tabloid journalism.

I've read in several sources that private sector security people are saying that it does NOT seem to be NK and to just accept our government's pronouncements on that doesn't seem like a good idea.

There is some speculation that this hack was an inside job at Sony. Our government knows that many will just blindly accept the story put out that it was NK because that is a regime with no popularity.

Why people are not more suspicious of what our government puts out in official statements baffles me. After all, this group has been blatantly lying to us (even more so than 'normal') for 6 years now. They come up with operations designed to curtail our rights and when the operations go bad, nobody gets held accountable because they are able with a compliant press to bury any details and avoid discussion in the media, who appear uninterested in truth. The NSA spy on all of us and the heads of intel ops lie to congress about it. Nobody held accountable. We can't even get details on these.

The Sony hack is just another situation where our government puts out a statement and then is silent. Are you buying it? North Korea? Not sure that I am. I'm more inclined to believe (if evidence apears) that the hack and the hack on Playstation and Xbox is just another rogue hacking group causing mischief because they can. Or maybe they have a cockeyed reason for why they want to cause damage.

As to The Interview, hadn't planned on seeing it and nothing has convinced me that it is worth seeing. I have no problem with those who believe that it was NK behind the hack and that seeing the movie will be a tweak to them and a blow for freedom. To each his own.

Sometimes he has that deer-in-the-headlights look, like Nancy Pelosi.
