RE: Could Memphis be the new U?
The 'U' has five national championships. If Memphis becomes the new 'U', they're in for a lot of success in the coming years.

That why I don't understand why they're so offended.

No one wants to be the U. But I think Memphis can sell the "anytime, anywhere" attitude, a little like Fresno State did for a while.

Excluding the beach and weather, both cities are similar. The talent is there, facilities are there, the rivals are there, the gangsta culture is there. I would embrace it.

Attention all Memphis fans! There've been two UCF posters posting this kind stuff, two does not a fan base make. Please stop lumping all of us in with it. A clear majority were rooting for and are happy for Memphis.

I'd take it in a heartbeat as long as we don't have to play our games twenty miles from campus.

Could Memphis be the new U?
Is Memphis a tough city? Yes. Is our football team tough? Yes. Will the team let anyone push them around? No. Will Fuente let us act like fools? Hell No. We have not talked any smack to any team all year, nor has our coach. Ole Miss started that fight and it was a rivalry game. Ole Miss is basically next to Memphis and they have tons of Memphis players and Freeze is from Memphis. Ever seen the movie "Blindside?"
