No kidding when they could have pick so many others. Funny stuff
I have several thoughts on the tone of the game. Bronco set the wrong example by making stuff up. He created an attitude that was evident from kick off to the final fight (figurative and literal). Instead of promoting mutual respect he tried to create bulletin board material by making Memphis coaches the bad guys. Fuente handled it nicely but directly by saying he didn't believe in lying to his players.
As mentioned in the article, the stadium set up placed the majority of fans behind the BYU bench. Our players celebrate with fans after the game and sing the Alma Mater and Fight Song together. Logistics created a situation where the winners had to take their celebration directly through a devastated and exhausted losing team.
56, who had shown during the game to be short on class, should have been reeled in rather than left to wander over for a cheap shot at the back of the head of Ifedi.
BYU had every advantage.
They had the experience of 10 straight bowl trips.
They had the sideline shielded from the sun while the Tigers baked in the sun for 3 quarters.
They had the advantage of two calls leading to scores that even the league official said were not properly handled. A simple review would expose there was no tip ball on the interception and a RB with a knee down on the three.
BYU had age and experience on their side vs our youthful exuberance! OK forget that one.
One of the things I have leaned as an educator, counselor and behavior specialist is that most of the time unwanted behavior can be prevented if systemic structures are properly implemented. That means adults doing their job. BYU, referees, security and stadium logistics planners failed.
In the end....the Tigers did what we have grown to expect. They won.
