They are now 0-for-Florida in 7 games in the state. Keep your decaffeinated rear ends where they belong, in the high country.

BYU hasn't been this embarrassed since Brandon Davies had premarital sex

"There were blows thrown across the field, by many players.

It was sad. It was pathetic."
Well said.

And, sig ep mike, in all fairness, they probably haven't been exactly following Memphis football this year.
What did you think their general impression of the team was coming in? Probably the same impression the rest of the country has had since we were going 2-10 years on end. If that's all you have to go on, journalistic responsibilities of research aside, I can see the author at least jumping towards this as a legitimate statement.

RE: The Salt Lake Tribune's take on the fight
The artilce implies MEMPHIS started the fight. However, on the late night news tonight on a local Dallas network TV station, the TV host said that BYU started the fight. That went out to viewers in a market of over 5 million people. I wouldn't expect a Salt Lake City newspaper that is basically a Utah state paper, to say that BYU not only was in a fight but.....actually started it.

As they said on 92.9 this morning, BYU losing to Memphis in football is like Memphis losing to SFA in basketball.

BYU also lost to UCF, another American Conference team.

That fight started long before the game was even played. That statement right there says it all.

Well from the game I watched, we were the better team.

I thought it was lazy journalism at it's finest. It's not that hard to research a team that BYU is bowling against. He only had 4 weeks to do a little research.

RE: The Salt Lake Tribune's take on the fight
BYU was starting the fight as early as the first quarter. I don't know what our players were saying to them, but it worked, BYU was mad/pushing/shoving/whining the entire game and losing made it boil over. Ifedi was pushed in the back, he retaliated, then Cross was hit in the back of the head twice, somebody, couldn't tell who, decked him in one punch, BYU guy has a huge shiner. I am VERY proud of our team!

JUST A FEW COMMENTS
FROM THE TRIB. ARTICLE.

Those boys have got some problems ... Real problems . FYI "Bronco" is the FB Coach.

Garratt Edward Johnson • 36 minutes ago

The Reddit clip is not gospel and is a perspective that you seem to inductively justify on the side or stance you have already decided you are going to take. There are lessons to be learned by the reaction of both teams. Koroma leads the nation in personal fouls after the whistle. Bronco chooses to do firesides and call his players 'Helaman's Warriors' yet promotes dirty play. It is well known that Bronco has little problem with his players making late hits. This altercation tonight was building long before the Reddit clip #1. The trash talk went on all week in Miami and the game was chippy all throughout. BYU's holier than thou attitude has always made many opponents angry. This is nothing new. BYU players are no better as people than anybody else, and to have this attitude is a big problem in the church. More power to those who sign up for the honor code. it's a big commitment. I respect sacrificing for your morals but to think that wearing your hair short and not having a beard makes you a beacon to the world when judgment and self righteousness abound is downright laughable. Sorry BYU fans but you need to figure this out.

Boss_Hog • 12 hours ago

The simple truth is that present day BYU football is the child of past BYU football. The problem is that those past teams had a swagger that was, indeed, arrogance. It was not good enough for those old BYU teams to beat people, they had to crush them and humiliate them. And the fans hung around to the very end of each game to watch it. In fact, they enjoyed the 40th or 50th point more than the first.

Fast forward. Today's BYU team still has the arrogance (every bit of it) of it's predecessor; it's evident long before the season begins, with delusional talk of going undefeated, winning Heisman's, etc. Bronco even mentioned today that there are no games they cannot win next year, so it's already started anew again. You'd have thought they would dial it back after what happened this year. Nope.

However, they no longer have the players or overall talent to walk the talk, and defenses have caught up to the (what was then novel) offensive schemes they ran back then. Those days are gone forever, 1984 will get farther in the rear view mirror each year, and isn't going to be repeated. Add in the fact that Utah has left them behind, and that creates anger and frustration in ample amounts.

Some of which was seen today.

I don't know how. We were favored in both games.

We were the better team. If it hadn't been for all those turnovers ... If we could've just limited it to 2 ... We win by 10-14 points.
