The WAC (another former BYU conference) is embarrassed too.

This is the biggest stir over a non-issue that I've ever seen in my life.

I'm happy to see that fans from other schools see it this way as well

So, it appears this started with BYU's center. No? BTW -- this guy also had a personal foul during the game for just this sort of stuff.

It did look like #97 for memphis was staring down one of the BYU coaches like taunting him or something and thats why the center came in but that is no excuse to start a fight. This whole thing just needs to go away

You guys do realize these ARE football players, right? This is not the evening choir service. There are going to be some physical, patchwork guys on the roster. There are going to be some poor kids from a bad place on the roster.

Fights happen. I'd rather see a fight on the pitch than a fight in the family home. Sometimes sparring with kids like you is a good way to release negative energy.

Brawls happen all the time in football.

Michigan and Ohio State brawled last year.

Hell, the NFL brawled just last week.

LOL at the folks crying today about a little fight after a football game.

Yeah, I agree. I really don't think this fight is a big deal. The trash talk escalated. So what. It happens

I enjoyed the fight. My only problem was the punk from BYU that punched the Memphis player in the side of the head when his back was toward him. What a p***y.

The ESPN folks and the bowl game could not ask for a better deal. They got a high scoring game, double overtime, big plays and a scuffle at the end. They want you to remember it and what you have is twenty guys pushing and shoving with a handful actually throwing a punch. Even a BYU staff guy threw a half hearted smack, lol. Here in Memphis, we get a bad rap since everyone thinks it is a thug town. It isn't that at all, just like anywhere else. Since Fuente took over there has been only one issue with a player getting into a serious issue off the field and that was due to a basketball player getting angry over a female. Yesterday was an aberration, not a common thing. You can spin it both ways but the bottom line is that ESPN and that bowl game would do it all again if they could have that play out like it did.

Looks to me like the BYU guy (56) clearly started the pushing... Had to watch it a few times, but once you zero in on the guys to watch, it's clear.

Nobody will remember this next week. People barely remember Miami/FIU and that is only because it was Miami. Nobody remembers Notre Dame starting a fight with Miami in the tunnel back in the 80's. On signing day people will only remember that Memphis went 10-3 and won more games than the previous 3 years combined. Remarkable program turnaround.

Yeah I've seen people arguing that 56 was pushed into that Memphis player and is evidenced by him turning around to see who pushed him but he clearly extends his arms and pushes that Memphis player and off it went.

There were words all during the game between the two schools. At the end emotions were high for both teams. I mean how do you win or lose like that and there not be. But there's enough blame to around. A Memphis player also used his helmet on BYU's center, #56. BYU's "sucker punch guy" had sucker punched a player just previous to that resulting in his face wounds. Not nice to see unless you like that stuff.

Yeah I tried to keep up with #12, Nacua, to see where that wound came from and just before he sucker punches that Memphis player (like a *****, I might add) a coach escorts him away from the brawling and to the sideline...unfortunately, right to where the action is and literally stands there for a second and rushes by for a punch. That kid is done.

EDIT: Found why and how he got that shiner. No surprise that it was well deserved.

Visual proof of the trash talking going on was just before half when the BYU player, who scored a defensive TD, drew a 15 yard penalty for "Unsportsmanlike" conduct when when he used the home run swing as a symbol of Memphis being taken out of the yard. That was total BS and likely builds up the frustration on the other sideline seeing trash like that.

Number 40 must have a head of granite, he took some pretty good shots to the head, from #12, it didn't seem to phase him.

Yeah, they are dirty and fans of MULTIPLE fan bases have made those claims against them. Not just Memphis yesterday. When I watched the BYU @ UCF game I wanted to punch a few of them in the face myself. Watch how they reacted midway getting blown out in the Boise State game. Watch what they were doing at the beginning...

You can go back for years and see it.

Forget them.
