SEVEN.

And that dude ain't the real MVP.

Only in Memphis, and in the movies.

Seven TDs is massive. At the same time, he also made a lot of very bad mistakes.

My point about Malone is that he made the two 4th down plays to win the game. In the moment after the game, I was swayed by that fact.

and who delivered those balls to Malone? Paxton Lynch. that scramble to keep the game tying td play alive was fantastic - he showed his leg to the defender who had him dead to rights and made the guy wiff air.

Lynch made mistakes - horrible mistakes. but he was otherwise spectacular.

No one is arguing. Lynch made a lot of plays.

My opinion is just that Malone made Lynch look good on the two 4th down plays. On the first one, he went up and took the ball. On the second one, Lynch badly under-threw a pass to Cross and Malone saved us by making that catch.

What a great problem to have...multiple guys making great plays!

Malone was awesome all year fielding punts. Sounds simple, but when you have a problem it is a big problem and can change the game.

Malone might have helped himself get a strong look from the NFL with that game!

The TD pass to Malone was actually a pitiful throw intended for Cross...Keiwone flew in and saved the day....Deal with it. Bring it, Snow. Bring it, Ramen.

Sorry to disappoint, but you'll have to call someone else to bring it, Mem90.

I loved Malone in that game. Watched it all again yesterday. No way anyone but Malone could've caught that pass.

Also in the right hand corner of one angle, two BYU dudes brought down our other receiver before Paxton could even get that pass off.

Agreed. I heard Pax said it was intended for Cross in the back, and watching it again, it appeared that's who he was signaling with his hand to. Regardless, someone caught it and we freakin won. As Tiger fans, we're not used to experiencing feelings and emotions like we did that day. Hopefully there's more of those feelings around the corner

Agreed. That last 4th down pass was actually meant for Cross

RE: Keiwone Malone is the MVP of that game
There were so many Tiger heroes in that game. Even after we'd won, Cooper was pile-driving about 7 BYU players across the field towards the sidelines--single handedly, I might add, till #45 stepped in. Then both disappeared beneath a pile of white for the longest time, especially in slo-mo.

I'm thinking that #45, Noah Robinson, was still angry at the BYU dude for ripping off his helmet after the whistle. Ref walked right by, saw Robinson standing there helmetless and did nothing. But now I digress.

Fuente was a hero too. I loved his gutsy calls there at the end--first to go for on 4th then not to go for it. So much to love about that game! Nobody gonna tell me I need to be ashamed for 60 secs of our season.

Our secondary gets some credit....After we gave up our customary open man TD thing to BYU, and after the FB gods made our guy get behind and trip on his feet, there were some incredible defensive plays by our secondary. Now that I understand what the secondary actually is, I saw some great defensive plays by our guys that saved TDs...

Commend him for staying composed and not getting rattled.

He looked right comfy back there looking for a receiver. Cool as a cucumber.

Now That was Clutch!

But Keiwone Malone was spectacular. He played like he was not going to be denied.
He is an MVP so is Jake Elliot.

I have to say that after watching the game a second time, Malone was big time. If he had been the guy to catch the last TD, and he was right in the area, he might have got the MVP. I think the staff used him as bait on that pass, because you end up throwing that pass to a freshman who probably BYU was not seriously thinking about. Anyway, he had a very good game.

No doubt that Malone played great...lynch did throw some int's(one that was called wrong) but he tied a all time bowl record with 7 td's...u have to give it to him IMO and it's a no brainer.

Lynch's stats are always going to be skewed because he scores so many rushing touchdowns. Running is always safer than passing and Lynch is more efficient than any running back. He had 13 rushing TD's on top of a 22-9 TD/Interception rate. If he isn't such a good runner, he converts at least half of the rushing TD's into passing TD's.

Yep. I never realized how being a great runner also made you a great passer. And some dare say we never get any good info here.
