Landon Root
Is not listed in the game notes for the Boca Bowl. Hopefully that is a typo.

Damn...just creeped twitter, looks like he's gone...

12/13/14 - One of his tweets he's congratulated on his new journey at Kansas State, but corrects the tweeter saying he is "not sure where he is going just yet"

HE GONE! 03-banghead

Ugh....I really thought he was our next QB. Wonder what happened? Just hope Ingold stays with us at this point. After Hare we really don't have much there.

RE: Landon Root
Either McIntosh needs to be moved back to QB or they need to try to recruit a JUCO QB. I don't think you can go into next year with Hare, Maddie, and then Ryan Graham as the third stringer in this offense. And they need to recruit a lot of QBs next year.

RE: Landon Root
Let this serve as your weekly reminder that recruiting rankings mean absolutely dick, too. Hallmon was as highly of a touted recruit as NIU has ever gotten, and couldn't see the field in a year where NIU played 3 true freshman at corner.

Try they need to recruit a lot of QB's this year.

I don't think it's likely Mac gets moved back to QB at this point. If I was him, and this is largely dependant on whether or not he's graduating this Spring, I'd think about hanging up my cleats. He's not gonna see the field as a DB next year and he'd be the 3rd string QB behind Hare and Maddie, so if he's done with classes, why not step away? Granted, he could do what Grady did in 2011 and stick around at his new position and act as a sort of emergency option if worst comes to worst.

Graham as a 3rd stringer doesn't scare me at this point. I know some people think he's bad, or at least that he wasn't as good as Root, but we've never seen what he looks like in the offense up to this point.

It's too late in the game to start to do that. It's unfortunate because I'll be shocked if Ingold doesn't end up at Wisconsin.

So as of today, your QB depth chart looks like this next year:
Hare
Maddie
Graham
Santa

And that's all you have. Really need to go hard after QBs next year.

If he stays at safety, I bet he plays a lot on special teams. That's what Grady did when he moved to WR. He already saw some time there this year, so while it's not a glamorous position he'll still be on the field. That kind of adds to your point that he won't want to move back to QB, though.

First Casey Weston, now Root. MD's record of picking the next great NIU QB isn't looking too good at this point.

Did not realize he was playing on special teams this year. If that's the case, then he'll probably stick around for next year. While he probably wouldn't officially be a QB, he'd probably be one of the first to come to mind if worst comes to worst (i.e. Toledo this year).

Not sure you need to caveat that with "the next great NIU QB"

In MD's eyes those 2 were going to be great. Hence, why I went with it.

Honestly, the biggest thing I'm bummed about with this news is that I won't be able to make the Guardians of the Galaxy references I was planning to if he became the starter.

RE: Landon Root
Root probably didn't feel like standing around watching Hare play the next two seasons.

Regarding our depth I'm pretty sure Mack Waldman greyshirted this fall so maybe he will show up in the spring.
