Hare has the intangibles. He's tough and a winner with a live arm. I'll take that guy all day long.

Im not sure he is someone you can feel safe with going forward. He is obviously the best NIU can throw out there now, but what scares me is how there is zero depth behind him now. Not an ideal situation obviously.

I sensed the same thing after the NW game and defended him vehemently all year. He has a wild side that reared its ugly head too many times but should be well tamed by next year. He's going to be Chandler Harnish!

I did see on twitter that Drew was working out with a receiver yesterday. Sounds like he's going to work very hard this offseason.

Hare seems pretty smart, and he does fire some BBs at times. Hopefully we'll have lots of weapons to help him next year as he'll inevitably improve.

If he isn't more accurate, those weapons wont matter one bit. I hope he improves but to expect dramatic improvements in accuracy, that's a lot to ask for.

Hare had his moments of inaccuracy, but he still completed 60% of his passes...

Only you could rag on the QB who lead the Huskies to win the MACC and then complain about a QB who never played a single down of college football leaving for unknown reasons. Also, I like how you said there is ZERO depth behind Hare when there is a veteren QB with playing experiences behind him. You're a riot.

the key is that he has the chessick center to work out in a luxury previous QBs did not have.

If you look at Hares stats he stacks up more like the backups in the MAC 60% is not that great. Most of the MAC Qbs (who were not starters at the seasons beginning) topped that. Hell, all but two of the SB Qbs topped that. He completed a lot of short throws. His ypc is less than his piers. The fact that this was his first year starting can also be said for those above him in the Mac qb rankings. He's more horvath than harnish. What worries me the most is that I did not see him improve from August to december. Not in his decision making, his accuracy or his running. So to ask for fans not to be disappointed that the one commodity that we had in reserve that MIGHT turn next years QB position into a plus rather than a push is interesting

RE: Landon Root
59.5% put him at 61st in the country among 123 qualified QBs. So he was average in terms of completion percentage.
His YP/A was 7.1, good for 65th.
His rating was 54th.
His 18 TD passes was tied for 56th.

He was average or better in every major passing statistic (with the exception of INTs, which he was tied for first in), as a first year starter who didn't start the first two games and who was without the benefit of full reps in spring and fall ball.. He also ran for 900 yards and averaged 5.7 YPC.

What else could you have possibly asked for?

The problem is that we have become used to world-beater QBs like Harnish and Lynch, and people are expecting the same from a sophomore QB who is learning. This expectation is not fair to Hare. Will he be as good as his predecessors? Who knows? But he will get better. Give the kid a chance.

He was average in pretty much all major passing stats except being the best in terms of taking care of the ball, and his 900 rushing yards were the 8th most in the country among QBs.

So average in most passing stats, literally the best QB in the country in terms of ball secruity, and the 8th most effective rushing QB in the country.

That's not average. That's above average, already.

He made big plays down the stretch to win games, that doesn't show up in the stat sheets. He's a freaking WINNER.
