Kent State @ UTEP
This one tips at 9:00PM EST. UTEP is 7-4 with wins over Xavier, Princeton, New Mexico State and Washington State.

They have lost to New Mexico State (tournament game), Colorado State (14 in RPI), #16 Washington and by five points to #3 Arizona.

This is going to be a tough one for the Golden Flashes. UTEP features three double digit scorers. 6'8 sophomore Vince Hunter averages 16 points and 10 boards per night. 6'8 wing Julian Washburn and 6'10 center Cedric Lang also average 10 points per night. Thats some nice production from some long players.

Earvin Morris and CJ Cooper lead the Miner's backcourt. Morris is shooting 41% from 3 point land and Cooper has 42 Assists against 17 turnovers.

Here's to hoping the Flashes come out cocky and force the action!

RE: Kent State @ UTEP
Forcing the action for this team means playing good defense and taking good shots. I heard DeAndre Haynes last night on the post game show say that the goal this year is to guard the 3 point line well and force the other teams to make contested 2 point shots. I would say that's mission accomplished so far. UTEP is a really good home team (at least they have been in recent years) and a loss would be respectable as long as we don't get blown out. If we keep them to < 60 points, I would think we have a chance. Otherwise, play hard and stay competitive and learn from the game and environment.

RE: Kent State @ UTEP
Thinking about Earvin Morris Jr. - he seems to be working out for UTEP. He's doing 8.5 ppg, even though his turnover and foul numbers are a little high. When he was with Kent State, you could see he wasn't ready yet, with turnovers and defensive lapses and traveling calls.

I wonder if things would have been different if he could have been redshirted back in 2012-2013. We are going to need guards next year to replace Brewer, Jackson, and Manley. We'll have Thomas, and Akbar is listed as a G/F. Xavier Pollard will be active, and maybe Deon Edwin. We also have our signees Jalen and Jaylin at guard, and possibly Rosel Hurley as a G/F. I don't know the story behind his leaving, but he could have contributed in 2015/2016 and 2016/2017

Wasn't part of his leaving lack of playing time? Doesn't sound like he'd have liked a redshirt.

Don't forget about Devon Andrews.

2 fouls on Jimmy Hall before the first media timeout. Ouch is right. Lawrence with a chance to show some skills.

Come on man. A little more play by play and a lot less excitement when the opponent does something positive.

Why is Ortiz jacking 3's early in the shot clock?

Sounds like Jackson and Brewer stepped it up a notch after Morris stared down the KSU bench.

Yep. 5 minutes left, down 6. The offense is earning what they get. Travels in the lane and quick shot empty possessions could make this a 12 point deficit.

And in your face dunks don't help.

We're going to need Dev to pick it up if we're going to have a chance. Can't have a 1-5 performance from our best shooter when we're at a size disadvantage.

That Loyola Illinois loss is starting to look like a pretty good loss. They knocked off 9-2 Texas Tech tonight by 18 and are currently 9-2 themselves with their only losses coming to #19 MSU and 9-1 Tulane.

But sticking around. I can live with fight and grit. Tighten up the defense and this one could be interesting down the stretch.

UTEP in the double bonus not gonna help these last five minutes. But here is a hoop and foul from Lawrence! Love the effort.
