For the Tigers there is more at stake in Miami than a typical bowl game:

a) A victory would give us a 10 win season for the first time in many years.
b) It would also be against a school who some speculate is a rival for a spot in the B12, if they decide to expand.
c) Victorious over a team that is used to playing in bowl games and has a national reputation.
d) Send a signal that we are a program on the rise.

Sometimes the winner of a bowl game is not necessarily the best team for various reasons: tired and just want the season to be over, no interest in playing in that particular bowl, just there to have a good time, etc.
From the comments coming from the BYU staff I think they are taking this game very seriously and are ready to play. As much as our coaches and players wanted to go to Miami I hope that they come ready to compete and are not just there to have a good time. We'll find out tomorrow.

Been reading some BYU forums the last couple of days. Well more of snooping... the general consensus is that they are embarrassed to be playing an inferior opponent like us.

When was the last time BYU relevant in college football? Sometime before they went independent?

congrats to you. Simply saying this game is a celebration of the great year we've had. Won't change my view of this season either way.
