Rice Sweater
Quote:NOTE: ON CAMPUS SHIPPING ONLY

Our Rice University Sweater is designed true to Hillflint's mission of creating luxury-quality heirloom pieces at price points accessible to college students.

We're excited to be offering it to Rice students and alums just this once. The pre-sale will be running now through January 1 and we will only produce what students and alums pre-order from our site. As a result, after January 1, this product will not be available for purchase.

I'm not sure what alums do, as we obviously do not have a campus address...

RE: Rice Sweater
I've been asking for an item like this for years, but the on-campus shipping only makes it a no-go.

And their sizing guide says that XL is for a 22-inch chest, which is positively Lilliputian.

There's something about this whole thing that seems half-baked.

We can get stuff like this, but we can't get a Rice adidas Firebird jacket?

Failure.

Surely they mean 22" wide as opposed to a proper chest circumference measurement. Probably more like a 46-50" jacket size.

I'd buy that sweater if I could. This is exactly the type of stuff I've advocated Rice stocking/carrying for almost 20 years . . .

Quit complaining and go to fanatics.com and click on the Rice link, and you'll get to pick numerous variations of this very sweater and jersey.

Don't see "variations of this very sweater" on that site.

+1 (No Rice sweaters at all on fanatics.com for that matter.)

Indeed, surely they meant something like that. But whereas chest circumference/jacket size is something that most adults are familiar with, I'm not sure there is anyone who has an intuitive feel for "sweater width". The so-called sizing guide is not helpful to the buyer, and conveys the impression that the seller is a bit clueless. They might have been better off not posting any sizing guide at all and just letting people guess based on standard assumptions regarding M vs L vs XL.

On the other hand, perhaps this kind of obscurantism is a deliberate part of the brand's cachet. Starbuck's has had that approach for decades, and evidently there is no shortage of consumers who eat up that sort of thing.

My apologies. I didn't realize that site only sold jerseys and not sweaters.

Walt, being from hockey country, can be forgiven for thinking that a a "sweater" is a jersey. :)

Yeah, well, I've also never been a sweater guy-- don't believe I've worn one since elementary school.

The sweater itself seems very meh. The blue seems light per the picture and the 'Rice' seems rather generic.

If metal bands are doing it, why not Rice? 03-wink

Link (potentially offensive, but one seems to feature an owl)
