As I look over the roster, these are some guys I think we may see get action next year.

Carilse WR
Kinder, McKee QB
Goodwyn DB
Green-Lassiter RB
Taylor LB

I did not count the true frosh who played this year.

Did Kleinrichert play any this year? From the roster he has good size. Green will be a tough act to follow.

As demonstrated by the high number of freshmen this year that did not redshirt, this class has a bunch of athletes that will be fighting this spring for serious consideration next fall.

On defense: Smith DB, Goodwyn S, Kleinchert LB, Taylor LB (Dykes and Stephens played as true freshman as most of you already know)
On offense: Armstrong WR, Kinder QB, McKee QB, Green-Lassiter RB (Dedmond and Caskins played as true freshman)

This year's class seems to be following suit with 2014, very athletic players.

I know we have a QB that had a solid year, but the athleticism of these two will get them a look. Armstrong will open eyes this spring (Ballard type). Green-Lassiter has that breakaway speed that combined with the power running could be very dangerous.

Goodwyn, Smith, Kleinchert, and Taylor had good a scout team season, I look for them to challenge for time.

This spring should be a very exciting time. Youth pushing the veterans can only make the team stronger.

Two more to watch this Spring are LB Josh Dulaney and DT Patrick Ely. Dulaney had a very good Fall. Long LB who should easily get to 225.

I guess (sigh) our one true freshman qb from this past season--the kid from West Virginia--
didn't impress from what I hear and is no factor for next year. I hope I'm wrong....we need all the qbs we can get and need to recruit more than one a season.

"Sigh"...well I guess that seals his fate.03-banghead Your expert analysis is so rarely wrong.

Kinder and McKee will be ready to compete. I think I'll give them a chance despite your view.

You're right about Dulaney, didn't hear much about Ely.

I think you will see a number of these freshmen in the rotation at their position this fall.

Not sure where the comment about Kinder is coming from. He and McKee both had a good fall on the scout team.

This question is unrelated to freshman - I agree that our recruiters did a great job with the current class - but is Ortiz moving on or is he going to request a sixth year.

Ortiz has used is eligibility according to Coach Laycock during a QB Club meeting and his career was sadly over before he could really get going full speed.

Ortiz and Paulus must have had the worst shoulder injuries of all time...neither was able to come back from them.

What a shame....would have made a huge difference the past decade if both guys had remained healthy. Both had real talent at quarterback.

Both had a similar injury - a torn labrum. It is apparently a very difficult surgical procedure.

Wasn't Jack Whitman affected by a labrum issue in the offseason?

Labrum injuries are often fatal for pitchers. Drew Brees tore his labrum, which scared off the Dolphins. Brees is the exception. I'm not a medical doctor but my understanding is shoulder injuries are tricky because there's so many moving parts, unlike knee injuries which are fairly routine at this point.

I seem to recall that, after he graduated from W&M, Paulus had recovered to the extent that he was working out, or trying out, for some NFL teams. So maybe one can recover from this type of injury, but it just takes longer to recover than from other injuries.

Paulus turned down offers to try out for The NFL. He was not the same after he got during the unc game.
Ortiz just had too many serious injuries to be able to fully recover enough to play. These guys had talent , no doubt about that.
