Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
How is the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl still in existence?

The crowd looked absolutely abysmal. The weather is always rough this time of year.

Now the game itself wasn't terrible. W. Michigan vs Air Force was better than expected.

I think there were 100 fans there if that many. The cameras wouldn't even scan the bleachers. It needs to go.

Dump it. Get a better location. I'd like to see a Houston Bowl with a CUSA tie-in with all of our Texas schools + USM + Tech.

I guess that enough people watches it on television to compensate for the lack of attendance...

It has had decent attendance in the past, but only when regional teams were in the game. Who else wants to go to Boise in the winter?

Yep, it's a bowl that really relies on local flavor (when BSU would fill it). And snow flurries actually would've been better. The cold rain scared away any local interest.

The box score has 18,223, which I think we can all agree wasn't butts-in-seats.

But that was all secondary to my disappointment with the score... 03-weeping

The weather certainly did no favors for those wishing to attend. I was surprised this bowl survived the last round of negotiations.

I'd love to see it moved to San Antonio but Seattle, Portland, or Los Angeles would work.

The MWC vs MAC line up is fine. I get the MWC wants a bowl within their geographical footprint but in a world with 39 bowls...40 next year. It's time the Idaho Bowl moves or goes away.

Coldest football game I've ever been to was in Boise. The falling snow was blowing horizontally in our faces. In person, that blue field definitely messes with your depth perception, whether playing or watching. I have no desire to go back there for any event outdoors in December.

That only matters for the local economy. ESPN still gathers a large enough audience to make a profit. And ESPN owns the rights to all of the bowls, so until the TV audience falls off...They'll keep playing the game.

You're an ex-Airman too? I root for Air Force against anyone but UTEP and always against the other military academies.

That's what I thought at first but there were actually quite a few people - they were all sitting underneath the upper deck and hard to see. Still a very small crowd but not quite as horrible as I first thought.

But yea, let's fly to Boise in the middle of winter and sit outside for a football game. Sounds like a plan. It's only a good crowd if the locals show up because neither team is going to travel that well to it. When NIU played Fresno there it was a decent crowd, and I'm sure not many NIU fans travelled there.

They have done a lot with a little on the Bowl game. The location is tough but people are great there.
