Miami adds a top recruit to 2015 class
Kendall McFadden, a 4 star safety from Miami, FL, had commited to West Virginia but never signed. He was late taking and getting test scores to qualify for a scholarship. He then got qualifying scores and signed his LOI yesterday. He was also offered by just about everybody : Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc.

Yea, so much for "public Ivy". Not accepted at WVU but great academic material for Miami?

A UC fan should not be one to talk about off-the-field issues.
Anyways, McFadden transferred from Miramar, who was fixing grades for athletes and had their season end because of it, to the International School of Broward to try and get his classes up to standard for the NCAA. What that says about him, I don't know. Miami has recently been very strict on any athlete who's run into off-the-field issues, so any whiff of trouble could mean he's outta here ASAP. Either way, he's probably the highest ranked prospect Miami's ever signed.

Great pick up for Miami. This kid has pro potential. Wish it would have worked out for WVU

Unfortunately, I've seen too many of these 'big-time' recruits come to a MAC school because of academic problems and never even come close to touching the field. I'll put money on it that this young man won't ever play a down as a Redhawk. Prove me wrong...

Funny, when Marshall does this, we're cheating or we bend the rules. Good job Miami. These kids deserve a chance and an education.

I think that he did not have the qualifying scores when the signing period occurred, thus NO school could sign him at that time, although he had committed to WVU, they could not sign him, and most schools moved on. Evidently we still had a scholarship, and he had taken the test late, in December, and finally got his scores and qualified. Coach Martin has brought in solid students so far, this guy has qualifying scores now, just got them a little later than most, so probably he will do OK. Miami does not give grades, but we do have a strong adademic support system for those athletes that need some help or some pushing, and attending class and study tables is apart of what is expected and they all know that coming in, so as I said above, probably he will do OK.

I thought the Marshall cheating had to do with paying players for janitorial work not performed- not admitting 4 star recruits who didn't pass the standardized test until late?

4 star player? Past academic problems? Is it possible he thinks he signed with Da U rather than Da OH? "Boy, I thought Coral Gables was a lot closer than a long day's drive!"

A source told me, he has not been admitted to the school as they are waiting for his final grades to come out. My source also told me its a long shot

Stop listening to your source. Wrong on both counts.

Marshall was just a few years ahead of their time by paying athletics a stipend on top of their scholarship. Most schools are now moving to adopt stipend programs.
PS---congratulations to Miami on landed a four star recruit.

He transferred into Miramar from McArthur HS, then into ISB. Not a good sign. Besides the grade fixing, some Miramar players received cash and gifts. There is a lot of gambling that goes on at all levels of FB in S FL.
Some areas are really bad for that. Good luck.
