RE: Football 2015 Predictions
I'll be optimistic and say 8-4 for BG. OOC @ Tennessee, @Purdue, @Maryland and host Memphis. I hope we can get one of those and not be too battered as we get to the MAC.

1-3 OOC and 7-1 in conference. This is based on blind hope that the offense gains 7,000+ yards and outscores 8 opponents. ST will be good but defense is a huge unknown. I hope Johnson will be fully recovered and at QB unless someone better beats him out. Our entire 2-deep on the o-line is back minus 1 backup tackle so I hope for some improvement there. Lost our TE/FB so we'll need to find a replacement there. Very deep at WR with the addition of Gallon (back from 2 years of injury) and a transfer who played as a true freshman at Baylor. 3 good RBs and we added a GA Tech transfer with a little size for short yardage. With the right trigger man our O could be very good. I also hope our coach was truthful when before last season he repeatedly said our O (in his system) will not really gel until the second year.

The only good thing about our D last year was that we were able to get some young guys a lot of experience. I hope that pays dividends this year but the key here is forcing turnovers.

Ohio just took a huge blow to their 2015 recruiting class as RB Trae Williams from Athens (OH) High school flipped to Northwestern just tonight.

damn. damn. damn. That's two Athens seniors with dads that are coaches at Ohio who have committed to B1G schools instead. Brutal.

Happened to the Huskies a year ago. LB Ben Niemann (Sycamore H.S.), son of NIU Defensive Coordinator Jay Niemann, had verballed to NIU. Last spring, he changed his commitment and signed with Iowa. That one really hurt.

Ohio also managed to flip a 3 star recruit this weekend, good news for Ohio, bad news for Eastern Michigan where he had previously committed to the Eagles. Unfortunate that it was a cannibalized MAC recruit but we'll take what we can get at this point.

EDIT: and no sooner do I type that do I see Ohio has lost another 2015 verbal commit, this time to Temple. Good times.

the Ohio recruiting roller coaster keeps rolling along, this time on the upside a 3 star Purdue commit with offers from 9 MAC schools decommitted to the Boilermakers and commited to Ohio.

RE: Football 2015 Predictions
I say Toledo beats Stony Brook, EMU, CMU, BSU, and Kent almost for-sure. Will be favored to beat ISU, WMU at home, and UMass away but they won't be easy. Probably won't be favored vs. NIU at home or BG on the road. And will lose to Arkansas on the road.

9-3 would be a fair prediction. 8-4 would be upsetting for our fan-base, but 10-2 is possible as well. Running the table outside of Arkansas would have Toledo in the top25 if the MAC is any kind of respectable.

RE: Football 2015 Predictions
We return our qbs, running game, and all the corners that didnt play which made our pass defense worse than usual. I know the oLine and kicker thing is a big deal but 9-3 isnt crazy with the schedule at hand. Our run game hasnt been stopped in a while, so even if it is less potent that will be potent enough in MAC play.

We've got a brutal schedule next season. I'll say we go 7-5 (6-2).

2016 will be the year the Broncos win the MAC.

You guys better not lose to Georgia Southern 05-nono

Kudos for getting Michigan State to come play in your stadium, hope you guys can pull off the upset.

No shame in going into Paulson and getting beat ;-)

In all honesty, I think most Georgia Southern fans are nervous about WMU after the great season they had last year. Most of us don't know much about your team or the MAC in general which also makes us nervous.

How does everyone feel about this matchup? Anything we should be looking out for?

How many years now have you stated NIU is going to lose 3+ games and it has yet to happen? You really are a downer each year for NIU football but you consistantly talk up the basketball program like it actually is good! Good grief!

A loss against 2 power 5 teams on the road (Id pick NIU if the game was in DeKalb vs BC), and picking against NIU in the 3rd of a 3 game brutal road stretch to the team that beat NIU last year, and a last loss to the preseason MAC West favorite by the MAC media. How is that harsh?

Hope WMU is getting a pot load of $ for those OOC games! 04-jawdrop

games,plural? I only see 1 payday game.

I was including MSU in that statement even though it's a home game for WMU

You know, sometimes the grass ain't always greener on the other side. Wish more kids would give the MAC a chance.

Especially since NIU has played iowa very tough, getting a close win on the road, a close loss on the road and another close one at Soldier Field. It's not like Iowa is OSU or MSU

Quote:NIU 8-4 Losses @ Ohio State, @ Boston College, @ Central Michigan, and @ Toledo

Really? To CMU? Their New coach who's suffering a serious illness, while also losing 2 of their top 3 players -- all while having angst against CMU for kicking them in balls all the time? Naw, man.

I see NIU at 8-4 a safe bet. Very Possibly 9-3, and not a wild chance for it to be higher if they do well this season. It's a true "Rod Carey" test. This is going to define him as a coach -- this year.

NIU (7-5) Losses: @OSU, @Toledo, @BC, WMU, BSU/Ohio/@Buffalo/CMU [Or Worse]
- 12% Chance

NIU (8-4) Losses: @OSU, @Toledo, @BC, WMU/BSU/Ohio
- 28% Chance

NIU (9-3) Losses: @OSU, @Toledo, @BC/WMU/BSU/Ohio
- 32% Chance

NIU (10-2) Losses: @OSU, @Toledo/@BC/WMU/BSU/Ohio
- 15% Chance

NIU (11-1) Losses: @OSU
- 10% Chance

NIU (12-0)
- 3% Chance

-- So IMO, about a 13% chance of being in the BCS Bowl running.

I redefined it -- which should be put in perspective when it comes to a team assuming a loss. Their New coach who's suffering a serious illness while losing 2 of their 3 best players...

When it comes to projections, one shouldn't assume that it's non-PC to factor that in, man.

I don't see why WMU can't go 8-4 again this year.
Losses to Michigan St, Ohio St, one of Northern Illinois or Toledo, and Georgia Southern.

NIU has a less than 3% chance to beat Ohio State not including the rest of their schedule. So 3% to go undefeated would be very high. Although at 11-1 a new years eve bowl is possible with a still decent schedule at hand.

If you watch our bowl game against Air Force, they got good pressure on our QB, and their Full Back dive worked ALL DAY.
