I guess everyone has heard of the Peter Principle. From Wikipedia: "The Peter Principle is a concept in management theory in which the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate's performance in his or her current role rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively, and "managers rise to the level of their incompetence."

Nothing describes Dr. Watts' better. He was promoted to a position for which he has proven himself to be thoroughly incompetent. He may have been a fine doctor, but he is not fit to lead a major university and should resign or should be fired as soon as possible.

Posting them here is important then, because I would miss these articles completely if it weren't for message boards and social media. Usually all I read from al.com is the /uab list that I have bookmarked.
