Ate at Cuban Burger when I was in town for HC and was blown away! great burger and fries. I can't wait to eat there again when I am back in town.

Benny Sorrentino's is another pizza place. About $5 for a GIANT slice of pizza. Its below Urban Exchange.

Go for the latter. Former is overpriced, especially if you want toppings.

I cant speak for Benny Sorrentinos, but I think Bella Luna is fantastic. I have yet to try Jimmy Madisons but I think Bella Luna and Grilled Cheese Mania are two fantastic casual dining options in the Burg.

If paying up for fresh, local, farm to table ingredients, atmosphere and a more premium beer and cocktail list is not appealing, then I can see how Bella Luna is not appealing. But it is every bit as good, if not better than a higher end pizza café in a major suburban town. I am not from Va, but I would say it would compare to Fireworks Pizza in Leesburg from a pure menu standpoint, with a little more space inside.

I agree. Bella Luna has been a great addition to the 'Burg and the Water Street lineup.

I had no problem with the quality, only the quantity for the price.

Fresh farm to table is nice, but $4.00 for 10 small cubes of ham and a sprinkle of cheese? No thanks.

OK guys, NYJMUPIKE's student should be in the 'Burg now. You only have a few more days of relevant conversation.

I'm a little bit surprised about the lack of love for the burgers at Jack Brown's...but I'm REALLY surprised about the love for the burgers at O'Neils. I've found them to be suer generic and lacking in taste. Rolls leave something to be desired as well.

Well if you went to JMU instead of ODU you'd have a better paying job and could afford it. :D

Sorry it was there for the taking. 04-cheers

b-dubs (former JMs) officially closed doors after Super Bowl Sunday. New location between Outback and Regal Cinemas opening up in 2 weeks. same restaurant, different location, same owners, new TVs. Not sure if JMU owns the property but I would have to think that building will be on the ground by the end of the summer for some additional parking.

RE: OT - Restaurants in HBurg
Jack Brown's has a good burger, but the fries are straight from Sysco. Five Guys has better fries, and the burgers are fine if not special. I love hot wings, but Billy Jack's doesn't do it for me. When I go downtown for a "cheap meal", I usually go to Cuban Burger - fries are OK, burgers are good, drinks are great, and chairs have backs.

New place on Port Republic called Jalapeno is pretty good. Cookie skillet is awesome.

Corgan's on Port Republic has very consistent/good food. I prefer Irishy Pub to Hipster Hangout.

Several good pizza choices - Bella Luna best, but small portions. Vito's is a favorite of mine, but Benny's has its place.

Limited experience at Jimmy Madison's, but for the price I would go to Local Chop & Grill. Clementine is a good upscale choice as well, but behind Chop & Grill in my book. I haven't been to Food-Bar-Food, but I've heard the food is good and the bar is loud.

Plenty of good Thai places - Taste of Thai (best décor), Thai Café (massive portions), Thai Flavor (best menu) For Chinese - drive to C'ville.

Beer Selection - Capital Ale House - food is uninspiring

Local Beer - 3 Brothers - no food except trucks

Quick Good Eats - pick a food truck or go to Xenia near Walmart.

T-Bird Café on 33 is pretty good for breakfast or Little Grill if downtown.

If I had 3 days in H'Burg

Breakfast @ Little Grill
Lunch @ Jack Brown's (you have to see what the fuss is all about)
Dinner @ Local Chop & Grill
Beers @ Capital Ale House

Breakfast @ Thunderbird Cafe
Lunch @ Xenia
Dinner @ Bella Luna
Beers @ 3 Brothers

Breakfast @ Cinnamon Bear
Lunch @ Cuban Burger (I like burgers)
Dinner @ Clementine (or Joshua Wilton if you have the money)
Beers @ Corgan's

I like to eat.

Heritage Bakery, a French inspired lunch spot in the Hardesty Higgins house is good. High quality sandwiches, soups, salads & pastry. Menu changes often...

I would be the worst restaurant reviewer ever. About 95% of my reviews would go something like "That was pretty darn good! I highly recommend it!" I can usually find something I like on the menu. Unless the service is really horrible, I rarely have regrets.

Agree with POTUS tho, it was good or it was friggin awesome. Jimmy Madison's brunch is friggin awesome.
