That is ridiculous for people whom are expected to be in good shape in order to perform their jobs.

I have 2 close friends that are police officers. Both are obese. I am definitely glad to have either on my side in a brawl though. They are obese, but offensive lineman obese, not complete tubs of lard. They won't be catching too many people in a chase on foot though.

Surprised it's not OTR or bus drivers.

Back in the day it sure seemed like every single cop at BGSU was pushing 350.

I was thinking this too. While there are many fat cops, there are plenty of cops that are just big guys who would be considered obese soley based on the vague and mostly useless BMI scale.

Well, if they can't chase 'em down, they'll just have to shoot 'em.

Come on now...athletes are obese at the rate of 20.1%? Come on now...

I think, once again, that comparing them to Offensive Linemen is a bad move as well. Isn't the life expectancy of an OL in the 50's?

I'd rather have an offensive lineman confronting the bad guys and controlling riots than someone that id built like Justin Beiber. I think they are useful to the force, but not in numbers like 40%.

The BMI is crap. Take a look at a lot of pro rosters and it's not just linemen who are considered obese by BMI standards.

Well the Americans with Disabilities Act requires employers to provide any tools necessary for the disabled (which obesity is considered) to do their jobs.

The doc told me I should be 175. No way in hades will I ever see or attempt to see 175 again. I haven't seen that since I was bean pole in High School.

I can easily see that here in the south.. I was amazed when I went to Philly and 9 out of 10 cops were 6'3"+ and in shape.

I'm 5' 11" or was... I should be around 145 or so apparently. Last time I saw that was sometime before 10th grade as a scrawny kid.

That ain't happenin', my fighting weight is somewhere around 220. Would be good to get back there at some point. ha

I'm heavier than I've ever been, but only by 20 pounds. I could shred that in no time. At 175, I had a bird chest and Pepsi can arms. Lol
