I was really hoping for Phil Jackson.

don't be ridiculous

Who coaches the Globetrotters? Those guys never lose. Get him and lock him up so tight his grandkids will be coaching the team.

Yeah but they just roll the ball out there with no set plays.

Anybody have any idea what Brown is making? I would assume it would take similar money to get Karl here.

you think our D is bad now?
We'd be an offensive juggernaut to be sure...defensively..we'd play matador defense.
He doesn't preach defense like he did when he was at Seattle.

You can continue to whine, to speculate on who the next coach will be, hope JP's teams lose, etc to expedite JP leaving but with this type of scheduling, JP's teams will win more games than they lose AND that is good enough to keep JP in his well-paying job through next season. If the Lawsons provide the boost expected and hoped, he is here for several more years beyond next season. So get used to it & get behind our team.

Unless he leaves on his own accord this is the "most likely" scenario.

B seems to think he's bolting though, hence the thread.

I'll join in on the fun. No idea how valid any of this Karl to Memphis chatter is but apparently Karl is an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and serves as an ambassador for their Hoops for St. Jude basketball initiative.

Interesting.

RE: George Karl
The Pastner hire is probably tied with the Tommy West hire as the laziest decision by a Memphis AD ever, but it still needs to play out the rest of this year at the very least.

I'm not particularly critical of the hiring, having to follow Calipari, but I am critical of the current salary level. The timing of the raise was perfect for JP & apparently our admin was in a panic that we might lose a star in the making. Time has proven otherwise, or at least seems to be trending in a negative direction. Hopefully our admin has learned something in the process & will exercise some real due diligence with the aid of some coaching experts/consultants to help them make better decisions in the future.

It's going to be a while before we play a team with a pulse again. I suspect it's going to get pretty ugly around here when conference play starts.

Don't you mean Porter?

No. Pastner and West were both assistant coaches at the time. Porter they at least had to leave campus to find.
